When its not windy, I usually enjoy perusing the forum here at PKF.
But sooner or later I get an itch to go do something and I'll go and play capoeira a few times a week.
Capoeira is an afro-brazilian martial art (commonly referred to as dance-fighting) that incorporates lots of kicks and feigns along with lots of
acrobatic movements.
This is a GREAT video of an INCREDIBLE Mestre (Master).... One day I'll be that good, I promise!
//EDIT//
Just so you know, none of this video is choreographed... its all 'unscripted'.
A lot of times, there are simple intro movements in a certain type of game, where the players will mirror each other for a few moves, and then from
there its all free style.cjules - 12-1-2010 at 10:05 PM
lol Only the Strong =PBigMikesKites - 12-1-2010 at 10:06 PM
This is absolutely Amazing!!!! I've never seen this, it is something else to see. I would look like a true Homer Simpson if I were to try this.
I'll stick to falling off of my buggy.
No wind, run faster with your kite!InvertedForce - 12-1-2010 at 10:09 PM
haha, we all gotta start somewhere. I'm not the most physically fit and capable person, but I try! its great exercise and keeps you fit for those long
kiting sessions
And yes, cjules, Only the strong was about capoeira. I enjoy watching the movie for a few good laughs, but I hate that people only think of this when
they hear about capoeira.brplatz - 12-1-2010 at 10:16 PM
I do the similar as InvertedForce, I do Taekwondo/Hapkido and Philippine Combatives/Aikido when there is no wind and a class going on.
Brianmacboy - 12-1-2010 at 10:39 PM
Dude. That's amazing. I saw that once at some arts fest here but had no idea what it was or what it was all about. There's a local club here too and
they have all kinds of lessons/intro courses. I think I'll have to check that out. Thanks for sharing!Kamikuza - 12-1-2010 at 11:47 PM
I repack my kites nice and tidy
Who's that guy who does like gymnastics and martial arts? His party trick is a back flip kick to a soccer ball ... I'll try to find on youtube ...
Ok found this instead - can't help thinking of this when I see capoiera
although I love it's athleticism ...
Jeez I'm good ... this is the guy I'm thinking of - Joe Eigo. Can't find his soccer ball bashing vid though cheezycheese - 13-1-2010 at 04:41 AM
well, i dont like to brag... but i have studied Tounge-Fu for 40yrs. Yup, i can Talk Sh*t with the best of 'em....cheezycheese - 13-1-2010 at 04:45 AM
but, seriously with three kids(10-12-14 yrs.) I'm never bored... wind or not !! :duh::D:duh:InvertedForce - 13-1-2010 at 04:36 PM
I definitely think capoeira has it's method and perks but that guy deserves to be decked like that. The whole idea behind capoeira is to be deceitful
and tricky, that guy was being stupid and showy and he got what he deserved. I think their movement ( called ginga ) is impractical in a street fight,
but a capoeiristas reflexes and cunning should take you further than one punch. Not the best example of capoeira...rocfighter - 14-1-2010 at 05:13 PM
If your boared borrow a three year old. We have one of the grand kids here now and then. It disolves all of the boarem completely :singing:indigo_wolf - 14-1-2010 at 05:35 PM

I got to take two of the grandchildren for a ride in a toboggan behind me and the kite. Had to lengthen the rope they were getting covered with snow
but still loved every minute. Their mom said every time the wind blows its, let's go to Papa's...lol.Drewculous - 15-1-2010 at 04:37 PM

Finish varnishing my home made 153 x 41 baltic plywood kiteboard. Decals then a couple more coats, add bindings and viola!! Less than $60.00. More
saved money for a buggy and kite.InvertedForce - 16-1-2010 at 01:33 PM
Is there any decent water to kiteboard in Missouri? Most lakes in MO are only available for powered motorsports and fishing. I remember because it was
aggravating that I couldn't find a place to swim when I lived in Springfield. Maybe kiting wouldn't be considered under the same umbrella as swimming
in regards to lake regulations.lynx69 - 16-1-2010 at 10:34 PM
Smithville, MO, 30 minutes north of KC and Stockton Lake, about 50 minutes north of Springfield. Smithville has a group of guys that kiteboard on the
weekend and have a kite festival in Mayish each year. Haven't found anybody in the Stockton area other than a friend who owns a sail boat. As you
know wind sucks but you deal with what you are dealt.Knolee - 16-1-2010 at 10:47 PM
Not sure what I do when its not windy, but I can tell you when it IS windy I'm most likely in school...kiteless. Too bad the courtyard is even to
small for a rev f0rgiv3n - 27-1-2010 at 10:58 PM

my bro:
WolfWolfee - 28-1-2010 at 12:36 AM
tubing is always a hoot and a good hill = air time...lol.rocfighter - 28-1-2010 at 07:20 AM
We took some of the kids tubing last winter. My son discovered if he hit one ofthe sloped just right he could jump over the stop ramp at the end. He
went over about five times before he got yelled at! The kid yelling told him that after they close up a bunch of them go to the top of the hill (about
5x the tube run) and ride tubes down. They can jump over a big pit past the runs!f0rgiv3n - 28-1-2010 at 08:01 AM
loool that's awesome man!!!macboy - 28-1-2010 at 09:34 AM

LOL well, it's a good point macboy. I felt a little off without it. I wasn't attempting to do any flips so i wasn't wearing one... :eekdrull: I felt
kinda weird screaming down a huge hill head first without a helmet on... o.OSlasherQuan - 30-1-2010 at 05:25 PM
