Trapped indoors on a windy day

shaggs2riches - 16-1-2010 at 11:47 AM

I have been in touch with a friend over the past few months to go out for a session. We have been in a no winds point for the past few weeks. So of course on a day when I get sent to take a training course I wake to a phone call from said friend. He finally made it down to my area and winds are 38km/h gusting to 45. Perfect day for me to take the 6meter access out on a lake that we have been meaning to go out to. Sorry for the rant but is it just me or does the wind seem to show its face when we are unavailable to use it?? I'm free tomorrow, however the forecast changed to almost no wind at all. The story of my life.

Send some of that wind down to Missouri, USA. Flyjump and Joeblinky are rearin to fly but with winds of less than 5mph, that aint happen. I haven't flown one time this year. That aint right. Now look who is ranted. LOL

@ lynx69: Next week here in DSM the winds are "supposed" to be 15-19 steady all week starting tuesday, gusts to 29mph. If that plan sticks, I hope some gets down your way!

I've been itching to get my kite up in the air too... I had one session that lasted about 10 minutes before my feet and hands froze (stupid me, for not wearing boots and better gloves).

Wind was ideal too, 18mph gusting to 25.

Severe Weather Alert

...after a bit of a lull today...a system about 450 miles offshore
will move north along the coast later tonight and early sunday.
wind gusts near beaches and headlands could reach 45 to 50 mph....

...this
strong low could produce storm force winds over the coastal waters
sunday night and early monday...with high winds possibly exceeding
60 mph especially along beaches and headlands. ...

but its poring buckets.:barf: I'll stop before I rant.

Amen to the wind god having mercy on us windless addicts. Flyjump is suppose to be working on a "Wind Dance" to appease the wind god. If we don't get some wind quickly, I'll be so fat from eating pizza and nachos washed down with cold beer, that I'll have to get a bigger kite.
