Jekyll Island this Sunday is looking pretty sweet for some water action. Anyone up for it? Tridude...looks like rain at Sullivan's on Sunday. Want
to make the trip to Jekyll?tridude - 22-1-2010 at 07:30 AM
Ill speak with the HSC (home station Commander) and see if she wants to do a family road trip Sunday.....................what time are you gonna be
there? Angus are you gonna be there?:duh::duh:acampbell - 22-1-2010 at 07:42 AM
yeah man, east or NE winds! Possible seabreze! winter is over (all three weeks of it).
Tide is awkward with high tide at 1:30 pm, but it will be a neap tide and not very high. More of an issue for me than you guys.
It's been a rough week and a good session will be great. Good company welcome.
edit: oops, you were talking Sunday and I was talking Saturday
high tide Sunday at 2:30 pm but only 5.4'
Sunday winds 20 kts from South according to NOAA.kitedog - 22-1-2010 at 08:57 AM
Hey Don! We're going to drive down Saturday night I think. I'd like to get out to the beach by about 10 AM. Tell your significant other that Carol
and Devon are coming with me so she'd have company if she came with you! I hope you guys can make it! Angus...do you have a wetsuit? I can lend you
one if you need it...a board too!BeamerBob - 22-1-2010 at 10:28 AM
uh oh. The gauntlet is laid down now! Angus, this might be your day. A little more of that NE and you might as well get out in the water. If you
just stop everything you would settle right down in the water and float especially with a wetsuit on.acampbell - 22-1-2010 at 11:33 AM
As long as the Gauntlet floats I am game. I have a Mystic Vest too.kitedog - 22-1-2010 at 11:37 AM
So...I'll bring the wetsuit and the extra board. Be prepared for some body dragging for sure! I'm psyched! You're gonna love it and the wind and
air temp should be perfect for a water session. We're coming down on Saturday afternoon. I'll give you a call on the way down!PHREERIDER - 23-1-2010 at 06:02 PM
cool, should be a howling session . i'll trip down first thing. SUN AM
should be fun.tridude - 23-1-2010 at 08:26 PM
Ill be there by 10am.........................kitedog - 24-1-2010 at 08:22 PM
Hey Guys!
Just got back from Jekyll. Feeling fairly beat up but as the old saying goes, "what doesn't kill you makes you a better kiter!" The wind wasn't as
high as expected but the chop and swell was pretty intense. At first, I wasn't sure I'd be able to get out past the shore break but managed to do it
with a little advice from Chad. Thanks Chad! Kinda intimidating but I'm glad I stuck with it. It was about 10% skill and 90% persistance. I was
extremely happy with the Pulse 2 12 mtr's relaunch today as I put it down in the breakers a couple of times and managed to get it back in the air
fairly quickly. Good crowd at the beach. Nice seeing Angus and Chad. Missed Don but I'm sure we'll catch up at Sullivan's soon. Chad...sorry I
didn't get to say goodbye but you were out when the missus retrieved me from the beach with the "we gotta go NOW" ultimatum. 6 hours out on the beach
was enough for her and our five year old. Anyway...good session overall. I'll sleep well tonight!

all good on JI, air finally filled in enough to have some fun.
on the drive back it seemed to pick up even more.
Angus, Greg, Rob great to see you all again , and nice to meet some new guys as well.kitedog - 25-1-2010 at 06:14 AM
Hey Chad...how late did you stay? Man, I'm seriously sore today. Worked some unused muscles yesterday.
Gacampbell - 25-1-2010 at 06:38 AM
Good to see you guys. Sorry I had to bail while you guys were out in the surf. Because I had expected higher winds and playtime in the morning
hours, I had made plans with the wife for the later half of the afternoon. Glad it the wind came up at all though and that you guys were able to play
some. Haven't seen that that many kite on Jekyll at once since JIBE. Greg, thanks for the offer of the use of your gear.PHREERIDER - 25-1-2010 at 07:30 AM
last to drop around 3:30-4.
bod is solid here.
greg you were busting through the break as it picked up. light wind and the rough break is a tough combo. allowing the board to run more down wind
to get planing with some speed and carve back through the break. the first pop over the break needs to be hot or it will just swallow you. get
some speed then "pick" your a spot to ramp through with the carve back and quick power stroke just as you punch through. with more wind its just a
rocket launch and easier to hop over the hip high white wash.
washing machine swell and chop is punishing. an education for the mind and bodykitedog - 25-1-2010 at 09:53 AM
Phree...glad to see you're intact. Did your Venom dry out? We hit a serious storm on the way home.
Good advice on getting out of the shore break. I don't think I could have done it without your encouragement. Thanks again for that. I'll look
forward to seeing you at the next session!
GPHREERIDER - 25-1-2010 at 10:05 AM
all dry, we could see the rain south of us.
always ready for the next sessionlad - 25-1-2010 at 11:54 AM
Believe it or not, I passed the Jekyll exit en route to FLA and even drove up to the gate late Sat. night when coming back. But I couldn't see what
the fuss about the place was about in the dark! ;-) I hope to get back down that way this winter, so let us know when you guys plan another run there!tridude - 6-11-2010 at 08:13 AM
headed down tomorrow with Nate and possibly a few other local water fowl............ETA is 10/1030...........................winds are forecasted from
the N or straight down the beach....................a tint of NNE in the forecast but the buggy will make the trip.................hope some on here
can make it.....................Angus, see you around 1230......................
Yah Huh, honking winds out of the North tomorrow in the upper teens to 20-ish. The afternoon sun might coax some east into it. Low tide around 2:20
and the new moon yields a spring tide with a large beach.
Come and strike some fear and wonder into the eyes of the Xmen filming on the beach!tridude - 6-11-2010 at 07:51 PM
leaving between 7 and 730...............................tridude - 7-11-2010 at 05:26 AM

I guess these weren't really good race kite winds. tridude's 12m phanny would've been pretty good as well. I'm not sure I could ride on the water at
Jekyll with an onshore wind. Glad you guys got together and wish I had been there.tridude - 7-11-2010 at 09:03 PM
it was an inflato invasion on JI today...........Angus seemed to handle it well..................... it was a side on not so much onshore and you
would have been fine...................a bit choppy but was fun hopping and boosting of the swell.........tide went out around 2:30 and the wind with
it.................
