B.A.S. = Busted @$$ Syndrome
I had a great session on ice the other day, first time I've been on ice without a lot of snow cover, but I had a great time. I ride a board so when
the wind lulls, I plopped down on my butt, winds pick up and off I go. Not a problem during the actual day, didn't even notice any painful plops, but
there were a few of them... anyway, I woke up the next morning and I could swear I had broken my tailbone. I was almost out of commission for the
next 3 days, it hurt to sit, hurt to walk, hurt to sleep....it sucked, a real bad case of B.A.S. I gotta thank my wife for putting up with all my
moaning and groaning.
THE POINT: I'm looking for some padded shorts I can wear under my snow pants with some significant padding on my BEE-hind. Any recommendations? I've
found a bunch of options, but without anywhere to go and actually look at them it's hard to tell what the butt padding is like......also I should
mention I don't mind if it looks like I'm wearing a diaper as long as I can sit comfortably the day after an ice session.

Why don't you use skiis instead? A lot easier on the body when icey.

Have you thought about a seat harness? I have a dakine fusion it has great padding in the tailbone area.

Never tried them myself but hillbilly crash pants http://www.amazon.com/HILLBILLY-2704-Pad-Hillbilly-Butt-Pads... have been mentioned favorably in the past.

I snowboard because I'm a lot better at it than skiing, plus it's a lot cheaper to buy a pad for my butt than a set of ski's and boots.
As for a seat harness, it's a good idea but I find them a bit restrictive. I have an ozone XC harness that I really like, and I'd like to stick with
it, but I could pick up a seat for ice days....I was thinking I may try these:

But I thought I would see if anyone here had some input.

B-Roc - those look decent, may have to check them out....

I second the fusion harness, it's saved my @ss in the park more than a few times.

If you ever decide to try skiis checkout the local Salvation Army store, you can pick-up old straight skiis for next to nothing, maybe even boots too.

I'm very happy with my Hillblilly ass pads !
Nice tailbone pad but not so much overall back there.
I don't use them for bum protection though? Macboy should have a better feel. I think he uses them and just tried the board.

I should probably invest in a set of these as well. Those 661 pads look less bulky that the Hillbilly pads. The Hillbilly ones look like they'd feel
like wearing a diaper. I don't even know if I could get snowpants over them. Are they as bulky as they look?

I got the Demon Crash shorts when I first got my mtn board. They have pretty good padding where you need it including tail-bone pad. I most
generally only wear them when I'm on the ice, though I'd always wear them on the mtn board. Snow is not so bad, so I don't use them so much in just
snow.

Another owner of hillbilly ass pads. Good stuff! It's got a solid proteciton where your tailbone is and they're lightweight.
bigben91682 - 23-1-2010 at 01:45 PM
I think I'll give the hillbilly's a try. My ass thanks you all for the input!
