Donkey stick replacement

flyjump - 27-1-2010 at 06:46 AM

Yesterday while winds were high I somehow broke my donkey stick off of my control bar. The Velcro was ripped completely off the stick leaving it to drop to the ground. I'll post a picture when I'm off work. Anybody have replacements for PL zero7 bar? I guess I can try and fix it but I'd rather not risk losing one of my scorpions. My kite floated away before I realized the stick had broken. Luckily there was enough field for the kite to land safely in.

Angus can get them for you. I believe he keeps them in stock.

flyjump - 27-1-2010 at 06:56 AM

Yeah? Angus help me please!

They are a pain. You might try attaching one to the harness hook instead. Also you might consider a suicide leash if you keep having this problem.

Orderable here. You want "5. Chicken Loop Lock (Donkey dick) AKPL0075" for $3.75

flyjump - 27-1-2010 at 07:27 AM

Sorry for the hijack flyjump, but lad (or anyone for that matter) do you remember the thread about setting up a suicide leash? I thought it was one of Carltb's but I can't find it. I'm still in the dark when it comes to de-power set up stuff.

lad - 27-1-2010 at 08:17 AM

I think ripsession posted about it.

Anyone have replacement DDs for an iron heart?

zip tie option

krumly - 27-1-2010 at 09:31 AM

In a pinch you can always use the heavy-duty zip-tie-around -the-spreader-bar option. This pic was snagged form an old post by Arkay, but I've seen it on other sites.

Sorry to be late to the thread and thanks Maven. Yes I do indeed have this here. All the components listed at that part of the site are normally in stock, since I know it's a silly little item like that which can keep you grounded.

flyjump - 27-1-2010 at 11:58 AM

Thanks angus. It's crazy how important every component is for flying. I'll make an order on Friday when I get paid

acampbell - 27-1-2010 at 12:08 PM

Aw jeeze, just PM you mailing address; we can catch up later. Flying is more important!

flyjump - 27-1-2010 at 12:28 PM

Will do!

arkay - 27-1-2010 at 12:32 PM

I wasn going to mention the zip tie to. Works like a champ for me. Just enought pressure to keep the kite in but it you want to you can easily unhook and rehook.

heliboy50 - 27-1-2010 at 01:36 PM

What can't zip ties fix? between those and duct tape...

WIllardTheGrey - 27-1-2010 at 01:40 PM

don't forget WD40

I like that idea, Willard  I'm a fan of hot met glue and superscrews too ...

With an Oh-7 bar? Leash from harness to the D-loop on the bottom of the safety, inside the chicken loop ... that way, the PL leash from the rear line to the spinning loop with flag the kite but the suicide leash will keep you attached if you lose the chicken loop somehow.
Make sure you practice releasing the leash too eh :) There's no de-power if you're attached like that!
