Yesterday we had a picture perfect day at Whistler and KC888 got to kite carrying an unlit Olympic torch.
Today an officail Olympic film guy showed up having seen us from the Highway on Sat.. Of course it was dead calm. We gave him some interviews and
managed a bit of film for him in the odd 2mph gust.
In my interview I pointed out that it will be hard for us to become an Olympic sport until have wind making machines or can truck it in !
As of Feb 11 we can't go there without a permit. Hopefully some locals will get us more attention.
Isn't that just the way it goes in this sport ? :ticking:lad - 7-2-2010 at 08:18 PM
We just need more 20-something, bikini-clad girls in this sport (as in Olympic beach volleyball)

I hate the Olympics - what a pile of over-hyped advertising-laden vain-glory-seeking lameness ... all it seems to be for is a cash-cow for the country
that hosts it sorry the committee members of the country that hosts it.
Like the winter Olympics though :Dripsessionkites - 8-2-2010 at 01:17 AM
olympics suck ... x games or gorge games is better. other than hockey there isnt much to watch, maybe women's figure skating? hehehe
at least you got to touch the torch which also reminds me of a metal Joint (bc bud)
too bad Red Bull didnt continue King of the Air, we could have had King of Kite Speed.
Red Bull USA, doesnt want to do anything kite right now, however Red Bull Canada does but are not allowed to travel into the USA to promo.
you're wondering how I know all this ... im also one of the few guys in Vancouver, BC who gets Red Bull deliveried to his house by the Red Bull Canada
Rep. =)
This should answer all questions why I drink 3 to 4 cans per day and also why some if not all my post are all little off. :wee:rocfighter - 8-2-2010 at 04:24 AM
IMHO I used to enjoy watching the olimpics when I was young. It was less bud light and more skill. Now if you are lucky they will show the top three
competitors in each sport. It used to be fun to watch the bobsleds fly down the tubes. The best ones were the worst ones I think. It's great to see
the pride of the underdog doing there best. But a waist of time to even turn it on now. Now they only show highlite reals of the games. But that is
how all tv sports have become except FootBall and BaseBall. And that is just a matter of time before that goes to sh*t as well.Kamikuza - 8-2-2010 at 06:28 AM
How can they show any substance in Olympic TV coverage when there are 10,000 different sports competing for air time ??!!??Bladerunner - 8-2-2010 at 07:24 AM
KC888 sent this photo of my interview. ( with helmet ! )
I livedtheOlympics oncealready in Calgary. I will remember it fondly for the rest of my life.
You can never go back. This time feels soooo negative. Something I never felt in 88 :puzzled:

I held the torch on its way to the LA games, when I was a young-un. Kiting while holding the torch would have been unbelievable.
Awesome Work! Great ambassador for the sport! ripsessionkites - 8-2-2010 at 01:05 PM
