lad - 10-2-2010 at 02:29 PM

...solves the over run problem?

maybe for those who don't want to shell out for a kitewing?

geokite - 10-2-2010 at 03:47 PM

Methinks that string must be apart of the definition of a kite.

Very cool. I wonder what those sticks are made of and how rigid they are?

Looks like perhaps they are telecopic /extendable pole used for painting /window cleaning /changing bulbs /etc.
Similar to this...tele poles.

Lynn probably just gives his kids his old prototypes and overstock and tells them to go out and play...

lad - 10-2-2010 at 09:59 PM

Are there any online vids of Lynn interviews, talks or presentations?

geokite - 11-2-2010 at 09:38 AM

If that is a kite, then so is a pinwheel. Or my patio when the wind rips it over.

From PL the newsletter

PS: Also from Pete, the kite shown in the second buggy based test above is an overpressure 'foil. This uses a small battery powered electric fan for boosting internal pressure to a few percent above what is available from ram air inflation alone. The advantages are reduced bridles, smoother leading edge form, push button initial inflation, and excellent collapse resistance.

Interesting.... future product?...

Kamikuza - 2-3-2010 at 05:49 AM

Someone used the over-pressure foil to create a wing-on-a-backpack to fly down the hills on skis ... see if I can find video on YouTube ...

Damn I'm good
