I agree Willard. They should have found a better place to conduct that test.
My Grandfather told me a story of when he was a younger engineer at Prat&Whitney and they were testing a new turbine engine. They loaded it on the rack and fired it up. When they juced it up the thrust blew the storage shed that was in the distance right off the footings and tumbled it. He told the story with a little smile. :bisou:

I hope it was a gutted clunker being towed by the firetruck.

What amazes me is they just chock the wheels on the jets, and it just sits there while running the engines wide open.

We would try and catch a few Z's on the edge of the staging area while working in Saudi waiting on our F-16's. The F-15 Strike Eagles would come back, taxi in to be disarmed. Then they would turn away and head to the flight line and blow us off the pavement!!

Nothing like laying there sweating in the hot sun then being blasted by hotter exhaust and rolled into the dirt and sand. I think some pilots did it for fun. All they needed was idle but some would give it a couple short burst. I bet they had some good laughs.
