Here's some video of Spartan, OBEwan and myself buggying on 13th Beach in 16-18 knots of wind. We all ended up using 6m XC's. Camera is a GoPro HD.
Fabulous afternoon. Enjoy!
Finally got this video working!! (I hope)John Holgate - 16-2-2010 at 04:26 AM
Took me the best part of day to get the video to work - I'd go to load it up, the progress bar would zip across the screen and then go into a holding
pattern for an hour or so. Then when I was told it was ready, all I got was 10min of black. Wasn't amused, same deal with youtube. Swapped
computers, net browsers, the only thing I could think of was that I recently upgraded my anti virus software so I ripped it off - still didn't work.
Then re-installed it. And then the video uploaded properly. I'm still scratching my head. I particularly like the rear view with Spartan and OBEwan
coming up behind me. The beach is about 15min drive south of Geelong, Victoria. (Aus).Kamikuza - 16-2-2010 at 05:19 AM
Sweet video. Would you mind posting up a picture of the rear axle mount that you have?
Thanks.rocfighter - 16-2-2010 at 06:14 AM
Great videos John. Thanks Kami for sharing the second one. Makes me feel better about the things I do when I think no one is watching John Holgate - 16-2-2010 at 01:27 PM
Thanks guys. Todd, here's a short vid of the axle mount the first time I used it. Which didn't quite work!!! I used a strip of 1.5mm rubber wrapped
around the axle to fix the problem. It's just a jockey wheel clamp, a bit of floorboard, a tripod head and a bit of flat aluminium to stick the gopro
mount to.
Thanks John, I like that setup and it looks to be rock solid.rocfighter - 16-2-2010 at 03:29 PM
SOO I'm guessing it was not supposed to roll back and drag on the ground? Did it do better after you scolded it? That never works for me!!Kamikuza - 16-2-2010 at 06:20 PM
Seatpost handlebar mount for the GoPro is cheap and looks solid ... I got one cheaper off eBay too.
... though if you wanted such a long arm I think you'd still have the same problems. Weld a plate onto the axle so you've got a solid mount to bolt
to?John Holgate - 16-2-2010 at 07:44 PM

I felt better after I scolded it!! A bit of thin rubber was all it needed. It's only slipped a bit once since in a dozen or more hours of buggying.
The GoPro mount is a much better idea! It's just I had all that stuff lying about in my shed and I did want to get the camera back a bit for a bit
more 'perspective' !macboy - 16-2-2010 at 10:21 PM
Dude - You've just amped up my excitement for our coastal return route from NABX! I don't know that I'll ever look at a beach the same way. Beautiful!ripsessionkites - 17-2-2010 at 03:35 AM
i just watch 9:00mins of jealousy. very nice.
"My top speed for the day was 54.2km/hr although I think both Shane & George went faster. hmmmm, even though we had the same kites.... I just must
be SLOW!"
same buggy too?
the lighter buggy goes faster but less stability + plus if you have rear weight you, youll track better but require more kite.John Holgate - 17-2-2010 at 04:36 AM

You're not saying I've got a fat a$%e are you?? LOL
Must be all the crap I carry around on the back! Actually, now that you mention it, George is on a Flexifoil and Shane's on a PL. Both a bit lighter
than the Vmax. Well, that's my excuse anyway!arkay - 19-2-2010 at 02:28 PM
The handle bar mount is for small diameter bars, there's also a roll bar mount that I think would work better on most buggies.

If all else fails:
Clamps onto round or square stock.
The piece that terminates in a triangle is a removable adaptor for use with square mounting points.
Edit: Better picture. Brass post attaches to tripod mount on camera or to a ballhead if you want to tweak the angle.
