Apex II 7.5m Rides again...

John Holgate - 25-2-2010 at 02:09 AM

With a promising forecast and in need of a day off, I headed down to 13th Beach. Again. Very light winds to start with - maybe 8 or 9 knots eventually picking up to 13-15 knots. The Apex is a brilliant beach cruising kite, particularly when there's no one on a Montana 9.5m to go screaming past you !!! hmmm, maybe next kite... Grab a cuppa, sit back and enjoy.

Thanks Popeye, you get a good look at the mount at the start of this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3zzSVB6y7k

Aside from that, I've stuck one of the self adhesive mounts on my helmet and the other on the stem of the buggy, as far up towards the fork as I can get, maintaining a couple of mm of clearance when turning. I once stuck one of the self adhesive mounting plates on the wrong spot and had to take it off - half an hour of prying, peeling and very tired fingers later, I finally got it off! They're not gonna fall off anything in a hurry.

I like the clamp mount - could be very handy for my conventional cameras. I wouldn't have thought of Araldite putty either! Good one.

Cheers,

John

I like you you are able to frame the shot with the kite just inside at the edge of the window. Nice!

Here is a bump to a great video from John with the Apex II 7.5m and video I put together. I wish I was at the beach in John's video. As soon as I get up speed I have to turn around at the local school field. Well powered day with instant acelleration. GoPro Hero helmet cam set at 960p edited in Sony Vegas. Music by Clutch.
