Nice! I think he may want to just leave the hat off though :P or get a chin strap ;-)

power - 14-3-2010 at 12:16 PM

Damn that's getting close to pushkiting skill:spin:

highazakite - 14-3-2010 at 12:22 PM

Personally I've never understood land boarders that don't wear helmets. A good portion of wrecks involve landing on your back under power, the back of your skull is soft and all it would take is a rock the size of an egg to kill you.
The clarity on the new bread of dslr's for video is epic.

acampbell - 14-3-2010 at 02:58 PM

Great video but yeah, I have helped load a lot of busted riders (no helmets) in the back of ambulances. Several times we heard later that the family had to pull the plug on life support. These were often pretty low velocity incidents and Like Highazakite said, involved the back of the head.

I will not publish photos of un-capped riders on my site.

Angus are you talking bikes/motorcycles or ATB/buggy accidents when it comes to pulling the plug? Yikes.

I wouldn't ATB without my helmet. Don't have enough brain cells to spare as it is.

Props to you for that stance on Helmets angus, that's awesome.

WolfWolfee - 14-3-2010 at 08:20 PM

It still amazes me the manufactures put out video's with guys wearing no safety gear.. bad taste and bad publicity for our support and just stupid.

Wise the "F" up

Kamikuza - 14-3-2010 at 08:42 PM

Aw come on, anyone with half a brain know that these guys consider themselves professional and that posing, promoting themselves as "kewl" and indestructible is part of their job ... surely people don't need to be told to wear safety gear when learning a new sport with the potential for bodily harm?

The venue was New YorS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s Central Park and the accidents were with rollerbladers and cyclists usually. I did 10 years volunteer work with the Central Park Skate Patrol. We did safety clinics and patrolled the 10k loop of the park, often giving braking lessons to people having trouble on the hills.

We were often the first on scene at accidents and called them in with Nextel radios dialed in to the Central Park Medical Unit and the Central Park Police Precinct. A lot of relative high speed bike accidents with mangled bikes, cuts and maybe broken bones but they usually had helmets and were OK in the end. The handful of deaths over those years were usually in low speed accidents with skaters with no helmets falling and hitting the back of the head.

Watch out AJ. I have that same blue PL hoodie, and I think I look pretty good in it! You might get bumped. :singing:

btw, the lack of helmets was the first thing I noticed in the vid.

WolfWolfee - 15-3-2010 at 08:00 AM

Hey Kami, I consider myself a professional at my job and I'm not stupid enough to not wear my safety gear and posers are losers....lol

Drewculous - 15-3-2010 at 08:31 AM

yeah they do.
I once had a (would be) skating student tell me that he will not wear a helmet because "I have a bad back that I do not want to hurt, so skating without a helmet will force me to be more careful..."
He did not get a lesson.

wtf? that is the strangest response to an honest request ive ever heard...

carltb - 15-3-2010 at 12:32 PM

sure the guys got mad skills, but his lack of helmet has turned this thread into a safety thread instead of a "damb that was good" thread. personally i wear a helmet 90% of the time but the 10% is a judgement call.

PHREERIDER - 15-3-2010 at 01:32 PM

dig kite loop trans!

helmets are important ...

...and unfortunately hot in the southeast US

good habits like wearing helmets will extend your life.

the amount of intelligence it takes to put on full on gear disappears as soon as it on!

with hill billy pants and helmet on my brain practically disappears.

McDuck - 15-3-2010 at 05:31 PM

Nice vid! Can we please not make every thread a "wear your helmet" thread? Do I need a helmet while eating pie?

If you can't see the image this post makes no sense.

power - 15-3-2010 at 05:38 PM

And it makes no sense:alien:

Kamikuza - 15-3-2010 at 06:25 PM

Angus - I was being faseeshus ... phacetious ... a smart arse :frog:

Wolfee - I consider myself a professional too but if I walked into the class with a helmet on there'd be riot :singing:  pro-athletes are supposed to be super-human photogenic idols ... ever see a fat ugly pro athlete? Erm outside of sumo?

Phree - I hear that!

... you think this lot is bad, Drew, head over to my bike forums

Only responses to that pie remark might get me censored.:piggy:

I think he read the posting. Next vid he wore a lid. Looks like he was planing to alot bigger, maybe that is why. Nice riding, I am still trying to get comfortable jumping with my ATB. I did a 360 without my board the other day on accident. It was cool and worth the grass stains I ended up with.

Helmets are a must

powerkiter82 - 16-3-2010 at 06:06 PM

Guys, I want to share a story with everyone on here. It is just not worth taking a chance to not wear a helmet. I have always been a firm believer in wearing helmets and always will be. Last year around this time I was in a motorcycle accident that statistically I should have been seriously injured if not killed. I was stopped in the street ready to make a left hand turn into the parking lot at work, when a driver ran a red light at an intersection about 3 blocks away, changed lanes at the last minute and rear ended me. I was at a complete stop and based on the Police report the car impacted me at 45-50 mph. The motorcycle was ejected from under me and I played human pinball off the ladies car. I was later told from an eyewitness at an adjacent business that I rolled backwards over the car hood, up the windshield and off the roof of the car on the driver side, landing on my left shoulder and hip. Fortunately, I only ended up with whiplash, a sprained left collar bone, a raised lump on my left hip that I still have today and a few scrapes and bruises. I was wearing a helmet, riding boots, and jacket with CE rated body armor. My helmet was scratched deeply and face shield was shattered when it impacted the car. The ER doctor was amazed of the job that the body armor did. He said my shoulder and hip should have been shattered. I will stop now and get to the point, safety is not something that should be taken lightly. If there is a helmet designed for the activity it should always be worn. ALWAYS WEAR HELMETS.

McDuck - 17-3-2010 at 12:24 PM

I'm still not sure why my images don't show up even after I preview them and they're looking fine. Anyway, helmets are important but I get really sick of going into a thread of someone's video or pictures and instead of commenting on the content there are endless posts about how the guy isn't wearing a helmet. It just makes it a chore to read through them.

I wear a helmet when I'm riding/flying, it's important. If you feel like you want to make helmet comments please just U2U the submitter.

Again, great video!
