:o That looks sweet! What is the weight on that bug?

acampbell - 14-3-2010 at 03:04 PM

Cool. Looks like a chopper front end. :smilegrin:Sized for Bigfoots?
With rider in, the proportions look good. Nice back support. Good job. Let's hear about the ride!!

WELDNGOD - 14-3-2010 at 03:22 PM

now I'll be askin myself " stainless or alloy?" when it is time to ride. Todd , I dont know yet . I will have to take it to work and use the digital shipping scale.
Angus ,How wide is a bigfoot lite( bigfoot mounted on 4x8)? I got 10 5/8" between the fork tubes. I think it made all the difference. Speaking of, I need to post a before pic.

Drat; I just put the Kitemobile away in the storage yard. The BF's are nominally 21 x12, but will have to check actual filed measurement. I think you'd be fine, though.

heliboy50 - 14-3-2010 at 05:10 PM

Don't quote me but I think a 21x12-8 (like a nanco) comes out at like 9 3/4" wide when mounted on a 4" rim. Not sure but that's sticking in my head.

flexiblade - 14-3-2010 at 06:09 PM

Very nice looking - and most importantly looks comfy. I like how you flipped the axle to make everything sit lower - good option. I mounted my nankang bigfoots on 4x8 a while back and it was not the best pairing. compressing these big tires onto thin rims can cause them to crimp on their sides unbalancing them. I am currently running my bigfoots on 6x8 rims and they still have issues, need to get some 8x8's to let them do what they are designed to do.

bigkid - 14-3-2010 at 06:10 PM

When mounted on a stock wheel the bigfoot 21x12-8 (like a nanco) is 8 3/4 wide

popeyethewelder - 14-3-2010 at 11:42 PM

Bling bling bling, that buggy LOOKS so much better WG, you must be much happier with it now, you can get those wheels or similar in a 8 X 8 now, but yeah man all looks good now, looking forward to hearing how it runs.

What will happen to the ride height when the big wheels go on, have you made any extra compensation for the extra ride height?.

WELDNGOD - 15-3-2010 at 01:52 PM

thank you master! I just needed a little push in the right direction. After all I'm the "weldngod" not the "Buggygod", that my friend, belongs to you Carl.
My ride height will be adjustable by adapter plates or I may make drop axles . the rear axle comes out so I can use short axle stubs if I want it narrow. Or if I was to bend one, it could be easily replaced. So it would be very easy to make slip in drop axles,in fact , I'll start tomorrow.
I really been going at it w/ the shop lathe at work. Axles , bearing bushes, ect. Man it is nice having access to that. Now if they would just buy a CNC :wow: Will report more later

WELDNGOD - 15-3-2010 at 01:59 PM

Oh yeah , I took it to the shipping dept. and used the big digital shipping scale to weigh me and it together, then just me.

me and the bugggy=260lbs. me =175lbs. buggy=85lbs.

so thats 38kgs with the barrows on...not 100% on how much they weigh...Bigfoots/Eurtotrax will add another 21kgs/46lb to your buggy so I am guessing you will end up with a buggy weighing around 50kgs/110lbs....that's a nice weight....I think well I am sure the next one I make will be over 60kg, makes no odds to me buggy weight, but in racing there is a 60kg rule in Europe....

You will find the fastest guys in the world (speed not racing)will be running with a buggy weighted to 60kg or more, plus will be BIG guys themselves...is that a coincidence...hmm its a debatable one.

Adding even more ballast to buggy, bigger pilot = more weight, bigger kite, straighter line, faster speed.

Wow...nice work WG!!!

That thing needs to be run at NABX...

That swan neck is sick man....I bet that took you all day to make, very nice job. Are you putting anything on the end of the footpegs to stop your feet bouncing off

rocfighter - 17-3-2010 at 03:38 AM

Good idea Popeye. You gotta hate shin scrapings.

WELDNGOD - 17-3-2010 at 02:13 PM

nope ,never had a prob keepin my feet on the pegs. I used 1/8" perforated stainless on the pegs ,just like LIBRE. But the ends are still open ,so I can weld a nut in the pipe to attach heel straps.
The pics don't do the neck justice ,you really gotta see it in person to get the full effect. And yeah, I spent 8 hours working on the neck mod.
I made those drop spindles for the rear today, man they are sweet. will get some pics up later, trying to drink meself a beer right now.
