Nice  good to see older arcs in the background too :)
... but wasn't that the same beach the Flysurfer "Trial and Error" film was shot on?

Glad he had a helmet on

ripsessionkites - 16-3-2010 at 08:05 PM

yah, same beach

Kami, you ready for some CH's in the quiver now. LOL.

we should work on changing SELF 2 OFFICIAL

Kamikuza - 16-3-2010 at 08:25 PM

I think you need talent to be sponsored, don't you? I'm still watching the For Sale section of some hooj mojo to go cheap

-mj- - 18-3-2010 at 01:30 PM

Yup same spot, filmed a day later as the trial & error vid if I'm not mistaken.
IJmuiden is THE SPOT, everyone goes there and the best thing is; you can live anywhere in Holland and still you'll never have to travel longer then 2,5 hrs :D
Already looking forward to another session coming weekend.
Wind 'll be some sweet 20+ knots so it 'll be :wee:

some critics (i do critic this point always): show the kite! at least 30% of the time. its all about the kite, isnt it? i dont care that much how great that action on the landboard is, if i dont see the kite together with the action.
looking at that video, it could be as well a lifty flysurfer , or a HQ montana, or a ozone manta or whatever floaty thing gives enough lift.

otherwise, i am sure that video would have rocked ;-)

BeamerBob - 19-3-2010 at 03:36 PM

We've talked before about what motivates kiters. Some like me think its all about the kite. I can fly a kite static and revel in its beauty. Whether I'm in the buggy, on a kiteboard, whatever, It's about the kite. Others are activity centered. The whole thing is about the activity and the kite is merely a tool. If that guy is filming, the kite won't get any screen time.

true words. so to satisfy both worlds, just mix a bit more of both into a video !
btw, dont want to offend anyone. just my personal wish to see much more of the kite in action.
lately , the official and teamrider hq powerkites videos were totally lame in that sense, that they never showed a tiny bit of the kite..

very inciteful:thumbup:

my favorite is when both are shown which is difficult. When both are shown though I learn more because I see what the kite is doing, what the rider is doing to control the kite and the overall effect. Like I said, very hard to do. I have seen Carltb do it though.

carltb - 20-3-2010 at 01:10 PM

filmng from a distance can get the kite and rider in shot but the riders moves are not always obvious or using a fisheye lense might be used to capture both. especially if the rider gets really close to the camera and the kite is kept pretty low.

Flat out SICK video, you make it look too easy...we just mounted handles on our boards and we are heading out today to catch the 20kt winds...its the first day back on the ATBs since last fall its going to be a good day.

PHREERIDER - 23-3-2010 at 10:15 AM

the Kite featured videos i've captured are weak very hard to do alone.

the distance thing is challenging. even for a good video handler.

scope, elevation, kite action, rider action . like trying to film a airplane dog fight !

creative editing helps but footage ends up being hard to match.

the GoPro stuff Rider POV mixed with moderate distance seems best of both worlds
