PTW asked me the other day ,how I would change my ride hieght when I switch to bigfoot tires.
Well here is the answer: 4 inch drop spindles

they insert into the axle tube and get through bolted . There is no slop in the fit either its very tight fitting. I made the drop spindles so I can
use the to lower or put the wheels back 4 in. or even raise it . Will mount and take more pics later.

very impressive! I thought you were dropping your truck or something talking about drop spindles I can't remember how your side rails attach to your buggy, but I saw Jon's libre setup and he just put drop plates on
the axle and the side rails mounted lower. Pretty simple because it was just a flat plate of steel with holes on the top and bottom. Axle height
stayed the same but lowered the seat. I'm thinking the way you build your bullet proof buggies that your side rails are welded to the axle.

Nice work WG, thats a good idea, but 4" maybe too much
Barrows = 400mm Dia
Bigfoots = 545mm Dia
difference 145mm
divide by 2 = 72.5mm convert to inches is 2.85"BeamerBob - 18-3-2010 at 04:26 PM
or the way it was working in my SAE head: 16" barrows or 21" bigfoots has a 5" difference divided by 2......gets..........just about the same answer
that Popeye got. What was I thinking? <slaps hand to forehead> I thought the first time I got to use that would be to make fun of someone
else's post. Hmmm. :embarrased:WELDNGOD - 18-3-2010 at 04:47 PM
yeah , but it won't hurt to lose 1 1/2" more. It sits pretty high now. It is also muti- positional, so I can get varied hieghts. I will install for
pics tomorrow.WELDNGOD - 18-3-2010 at 05:13 PM
just measured , they are actually 3 3/4" dropspopeyethewelder - 19-3-2010 at 01:08 AM

Looks like we will both be sporting tricked out new bugs this year.You wouldn't know mine is the same buggy :DWELDNGOD - 19-3-2010 at 04:56 PM
Nick , these are almost finished ,but I need to know what size tire is gonna be up front. And axle dia.. Also the dia of your footpeg bolts. Then I
will be done w/ it.

foot pegs are 5/8 step bolts. Tires are 18x8.50x8 on 8in golfcart wheels. What axle size would you recommend?WELDNGOD - 19-3-2010 at 05:35 PM
depends on the bearings that fit your rimssilvereaglekiter - 19-3-2010 at 05:44 PM
standard bearings take a 3/4 shaft but I can get bushings to fit most any size The only problem so far is the dust seals not fiting
