helmets

mougl - 20-3-2010 at 03:13 PM

Ok so I'm getting closer to buying a buggy and I want to have everything I need before I pull the trigger on one. Ie: helmet, harness, strop, spreader, etc. My question here is: which type of helmet would be best. It can be confusing to a noob like me when I see so many different helmets being used in the videos I watch. I see everything from what appears to be wally world bicycle helmets to brain buckets and full face. I know it really boils down to personal pref. And all so I guess what I'm asking here is: which type of helm do you use and why?

Thanks!!

MX helmet full face, but I will be switching over to a paraglider helmet

I also use a full face MX helmet but don't think I want to upgrade to a paraglider helmet till they develop one for GROUND use.

Be aware that while these helmets are VERY popular for Skateboarding, Longboarding and Speedboarding, they are specifically designed for Hang Gliding and Paragliding, where speeds are generally slow.

They are certified to an appropriate EN (European) standard, but are not tested to, and would likely not meet the DOT or SNELL standards for motorcycle helmets, which may be more appropriate for downhill racing in skateboards. Each Charly helmet carries a warning label to this effect.

You should be wearing a MX full face if you are seeing any real speed This is the one I wear and here is a link to jenson usa. They got all kinds of gear. I have bought lots of stuff from them.

good call on the mx helm. one major thing most people fail to realize is when you eat it without a chin/full face coverage you end up eating through a straw while your jaw is wired shut during the healing.

WELDNGOD, did you get the P-51? I love the "Naughty but nice" emblem from the plane. Great deal, too!
