El Mirage dry lakebed is CLOSED. The pre-event has moved to Harper Dry Lake, about 20 miles north of El Mirage. Conditions are epic and the lakebed is
perfect! Here's how to get there:
Hwy 58 to Hinkey. Go North out of Hinkley on Hinkley Rd. Turn Left on Holstead Rd/Burnt Tree Rd. There is a fork where Burnt Tree intersects with the
power lines, go to the left following the power lines for about 3 miles. You'll see Harper Dry Lake and the road to it on your right. RV can make it
no problem, but need to go slow over a couple of spots. Lake bed is dry and without a soul on it!!
In Google Maps: +35.014167, -117.271389
On your GPS: 35° 0' 51" N by 117° 16' 17" W
If you know someone heading to El Mirage today or tomorrow, PLEASE TELEPHONE THEM and give them these directions to Harper.

No, they're all gonna leave the lake and hide, hang you out to dry! ;-)
While you never know with this crowd--the pre-event is all about buggy mavericks chasing aoxomoxoa, after all--I would think they'll maybe still be
there on Monday--or that they'll put another post here, leave you a trail of bread crumbs.
I would *strongly* recommend following the directions of the guy who just drove the route this morning, and asked that they be posted, officially, in
the name of the organization.
Or you could go ahead and follow a shortcut you found in google maps... Like the guy who routed his family through eastern Oregon in the dead of
winter... ;-)
