Hatteras 2010

zero gee - 27-3-2010 at 07:32 PM

Bound for Hatteras last 2 weeks of April. :wee:

I should be easy to spot. I will likely be one of very few guys flying Twinskins and riding a surfboard on the entire island at that time.

PHREERIDER - 27-3-2010 at 07:39 PM

nice !

chris - 28-3-2010 at 12:40 AM

Hatteras

It's one of the premier spots for windsports in the country.

clintopher - 28-3-2010 at 09:32 AM

Would love to go down there and meet up with you but my unborn is due on the 24th of April...probably not the best timing.

We will be riding between Salvo and Waves mostly. However, we will also be driving to other spots for downwinders or better conditions or smaller crowds. Soundside or oceanside wind permitting.

I will be with a large band of marauding Canadians from Manitoba and Saskatchewan. We will be hard to miss as all of a sudden up to 20 riders show up to launch or you see a swarm of kites descending on a venue from up wind.

I will be the only one flying Twinskins and riding a Mako Surf.

DenisLaMenace - 15-4-2010 at 11:09 AM

going to be in Avon Hatteras from Apr 25 to May1

mainly riding at kitepoint

On LW days, look for a Flysurfer Speed3 19m deluxe special color all white like Speed2 SA 19m

other days: be riding tubes:shocked2:

too bad because it already takes me 15 hours drive to get to hatteras

I can't afford another 8hr drive ??

Oh yes, snowbird invasion has started, bunch of QC kitesurfers are there now and more in the following weeks

may be next time by plane

is there any kitesurf around myrtle beach ??

zero gee - 15-4-2010 at 02:17 PM

Sure, some of us are driving 36 hours to get to Hatteras. We will be vibrating by the time we get there. :bouncing::D

arkay - 15-4-2010 at 02:29 PM

I'd really like to get there some day... until then I'll just keep braving hood river and manzanita. Eventually I'll see some flat water.

Hatteras was awesome and did not dissapoint despite the cooler temperatures, poor wind forecasts and slow start the first week. I did not get to ride with any other twinskins but I did get to meet a few riders briefly. Don from Ohio the end of the first week. He had been on a 19m Charger I could see from the house a few times. Some of Chris Krugs buddies Paul, Randy and Eric early in the 2nd week at the Planet of the Apes launch (it was too windy for the 10m that day). Other than Don's Charger no other ARC's were visible in the air the whole 2 weeks.

I was there last week, but only had 1 foil with me. The Speed 3 deluxe custom color all white look like Speed2.

I could only fly it 1 day, because all other days were really too windy. I was riding at kitepoint that day a bit powered :-).

But I saw a twin skin north of that between kitepoint and the canadian hole (windsurf spot). Was it you ???

We did a downwind from the Planet of the apes to Salvo/Waves on friday afternoon.

Hatteras is the paradise 7 on 7 rides with all sizes: 8, 11,12,14,19 Just wow. Sad to be back home

action jackson - 4-5-2010 at 10:33 AM

I was out on my rasta 12m syn last week by Khk in waves! I did several upwinders to the real slicks to ride.Few of the days it was blowing 30-40 in waves so I rode at windmill point in Nags Head. Sorry I miss u, I always enjoy see other twin skins in the sky!................aj

We had a few days at Kite Point and one day I did see an all white Speed. I would have been on a disco colored 15m.

But I also saw an all white Flysurfer up around KHKs Resort on a light wind day.

We moved quite a bit. I would have been on my disco 15m or my rasta 10m. Most of the gang I was with were on Cabrinhas.

On top of the few days at Kite Point. We did ride a lot near the house at Wind Over Waves either launched there and /or landed there from some of our many downwinders. Spent some time at the Real Slick too.

Sound side downwinder from north Avon to Kite Point, downwinder from Kite Point to the house in Salvo (offshore via the island out around Planet of the Apes to ride in those sweet little waves on the sandbar out there), many downwinders from Planet to the house, downwinder from the house north to the old bridge by the ranger station.

Ocean sessions at Salvo. Ocean downwinder from Avon south of Pier to Salvo mile 42 (very close to house). A slow ocean downwinder from Hatteras to Frisco Pier.

My hands hurt!

DenisLaMenace - 4-5-2010 at 11:56 AM

one thing for sure, is last week was the best week to be there.:wee::wee::wee::wee:

the day I was on the FS S3 19m was wednesday. The wind direction was onshore that day. Light winds in the morning, in the teen knots in afternoon.

Then on thurday I got there around 3PM, there were a bunch of flysurfers Psycho4 and Speed3 riding, but the wind picked up and I had to pump a smaller kite.
