Brake Lines

swainey92 - 2-4-2010 at 05:45 AM

Dear all, i am new to the site and kite flying so please forgive me!

I have a 3 metre flexi foil power kite, and the only way i seem to be able to fly it is if i literally hold on to the power line past the knot with the handles dangeling below me.

Where am i going wrong or what do i need to adjust?

Any help would be greatful!

A young flyer from England!!

You can add adjustment knots to the power leaders on the handles to adjust the length of the power lines in relation to the brake lines.

Basically by adding adjustment knots to the power leaders on the handles, you can attach the power lines closer to the handles. This would take out the slack which currently has you holding the power lines (not something to do as a gust can result in a nasty friction burn to your hands/fingers).

Kent probably does a better job of explaining it in his blog.

Are these the handles and flying lines that came with the kite?

What Kite?
Brakes are too tight. At the brake bridles on the kite there should be a series of knots in line on the bridle toggle where the lines attach. Loosen the larkshead knot and move the lines down to a lower knot away from the kite.

Cheers guys. Typically after posting this my dad came and helped me and some how as dads always do he managed to help me.

That tuning blog looks for some interesting reading though!

My kite is a Radsails sp 5506 xl (if that means anything) and the handles are the originals but the lines are not as the originals snapped!

Im pleased i found this forum and became a member
