Winds were around 12mph yesterday afternoon, so a friend and I took the our kites out for a session. We found a field just outside of town that wasn't
too rough and not full of stubble. I pulled out the access and made a few 200 yard passes across the field. The winds weren't consistent enough to
keep me powered going upwind, but on a couple turns when down looping the kite I got pulled right sideways causing the bug to flip over and me face
plant in the dirt (yes I wear a bucket) .
Never considered how much
more traction I had compared to the slick grass field I normally fly in. Bumps definitely made it harder to keep my feet on the pegs, which has me
considering making some stirrups. After I was finished that I pulled out the scorpion to let my buddy try it and he helped me correct the problems I
have been having trying to jump properly.(only got about two feet of air as the winds weren't all that great) All in all it was a fun afternoon and a
good learning experience. Can't wait till I get to ride on a sandy beach in the next few months.
