You know what they say, "Any day kiting....

Nice man! That's how a lot of my buggy sessions look as well, but practice makes perfect! Looks like it was a beautiful day over there as well. Now that you put one video up, you realize you have to put many more up right?

Nice first vid Maven:thumbup:. I wish I could get our local camera man to buy one of those Go Pro's. See you guys at WW:wee:

Drewculous - 16-4-2010 at 02:36 PM

cool cool!

Maven454 - 16-4-2010 at 04:14 PM

That's better. I fixed it so that the editing software used the correct aspect ratio. Now it doesn't have black bars around it.

mougl - 16-4-2010 at 05:57 PM

good stuff man!

Hardrock - 16-4-2010 at 06:14 PM

I wish I could get that much buggy video. Still looking for the right place.

Work it baby! Lumpy, bumpy, tree shadowy wind... Way to go! You'll be ready..

Bladerunner - 16-4-2010 at 06:45 PM

Nice Vid!

Try pointing your buggy a LOT more down wind when running low on power like that. Pump or loop the kite to get up speed that you can then translate in to cross wind power / riding !

sizing up a kite size helps too, and if you feel like your overpowered you can drift the buggy, or glide a little downwind with it.

Kamikuza - 16-4-2010 at 08:13 PM

Nice  Looks like a good little field ... I'll put up with a lot more gusty winds on a nice grass field than I will on harder surfaces ...

Love the upside-down head-shot at the start ... the classic GoPro pic!

Any more downwind and it fell out of the sky even faster.

Yeah, pretty sure that's what I needed to do, but I was being lazy and didn't want to make the effort. I forgot to bring sunscreen so only had a limited amount of time to be out there.

WELDNGOD - 17-4-2010 at 06:31 AM

No argument on the amount of power. I originally grabbed the 5m, but then thought it might be too much and used the 4m . It was a mistake on my part. If I'd have stayed out longer, I would have been glad for the 4m though. The winds picked up quite a bit.

Because that helmet is awesome.

bobalooie57 - 17-4-2010 at 06:38 AM

haha, when you posted about that helmet, I thought it was so sweet, I wanted one too! resisted the urge, though, holding out for something full faced in green!

Bladerunner - 17-4-2010 at 10:18 AM

I hear you about outrunning the kite pointing downwind more. It is a timing thing and you are right, you need to keep tension on the lines.

SPEED ='s POWER !!!!!!!!!!!!!

You MUST fly the kite fast to make it create enough power for you to go fast ...........

Do this by either aggresively sining the kite or starting off with a kite loop. Then it is timing / feel using that speed in the kite to either pump another sine wave or pull another loop as you start to track more upwind.

Don't take the kite toooo far back past 12 oclock or it will work against your momentum.

OR , go up a size !

Have FUN !!!!!

Maven454 - 17-4-2010 at 12:14 PM

I was trying to sine it, but it didn't want to climb. That's why I'm pretty sure that I needed to size up. I actually had a few bits of good run, but cut them as they didn't really fit the theme of the vid.
