Cor(e) blimey!

Kamikuza - 19-4-2010 at 10:40 PM

Took the newly arrived Core 6.7 out tonight ...

I'd say there was maybe 3-6 knots; despite the Crappy wind, it flew real nice so I got the board out of the car and got some riding in!

The Core is a lower aspect ratio kite, sorta short and fat like the Vibe and unlike the longer, thinner Rebble.
In that light wind, it flew slow but steady and reacted well to pull turns and brake only turns.
Good solid pull through the window.

Compared to the Blade III 6.6 I had, it's a lot less of a handful in the lighter winds; launches easy with a little backwards walking and fills quickly, going up to zenith and sitting there quite happily. That may well have something to do with just how light the Core is, compared to the Blade ...

Anyway, it's a bloody good kite and looks like it'll turn a session of Crap into Chicken Gravy.

... more details on the blog but that's the guts of it. Mad props to the Ripsession for a brand new kite at a killer price!

looks like a very good lightwind performer!

if you find the time, maybe can you give me the weight, kite only ? just for that list..

Yes, the Core will jump off the ground with a knot or two less than other kites of similar size. They are just elegant. Cheezycheeze got his Core and was talking about feeling how light it was in his hands flying until it started to pull.

I've parapacked it again Herc  will do what I can :D
Oh yeah it's super-light - feels more like my 3.5 in the hands; the material feels real thin and the bridle lines are that thin but tough feeling stuff ... modern gear huh who'd've thunk it? might have to get rid of the Rebble after all :(

PS. powerkiteshop.com says the sail is made of Mirai ... that explains the different fell. Kind of reminds me of what the Ace feels like - sorta soft and powdery ...

And it's be-YOU-tiful in orange and blue :)

The Ace I had was heavy for it's size though.

I've got the 3 & 5.1. I simply love 'em. the majority of my FB flying has been on the Beamers which are certainly great kites, but it's like comparing Breakdancing to Ballet :dunno: The feel of these kites in the air is sooo light
even in the gusts. I cant wait to use 'em in the buggy. Got my 5.1 from Dino. this thing sat for a few months without one hit... Shame on everybody, MY Gain...!!!! and the 3m came from Angus. THANKS GUYS for two great kites!!

Not into horse racing, erratic. I like blue and orange cos my old V2 came in those colours and one of my favourite beers from back home comes in blue and orange can

tridude - 20-4-2010 at 05:58 PM

God I hate rugby  I'd rather watch football  I'm a 49ers fan by default cos the guy who introduced me to it was from San Fran. I think ...

rocfighter - 21-4-2010 at 05:04 AM

I played Rugby when I was a teen. Stopped playing when I got a bad block (for me) and broke 4 ribs. About 6 months of pain and lots of blood from the wrong places!!!

Kamikuza - 21-4-2010 at 05:54 PM

Rugby is the excuse for straight men to have a cuddle and a grope in public.
