first flight of new kite

well i think i had to change my undies today lol brought a new 7m pansh ace, came this morning and was well excited, went outside mmm well windy so off to the field set it up to a 50cm radsail crossover bar, fastened the strap to my wrist an up she went with me being draggin half way across the field. never in this world did i think this kite could have so much power but sayin that the wind was strong. i dont think the bar is for me tho it went up that hard it ripped the bar out of my hands and the buckle that holds the wrist strap on snapt in half and ripped off my arm. i soon packed it up and got the 3m one out and that was strong but i could control it but that had handles instead of the bar which i think is easier and can control it alot more. been out again tonight with the 7m and put the handles on and way better.

i will defo have to read up on a few things b4 i take the big one out in them sort of winds again.

how come the handles are easier to control the kite than the bar is?

Never flew an Ace on a bar so I couldn't say for sure. I know the Ace needs to be flown and worked a lot so handles probably would be the choice.

I have a 7m Ace and know its a very hard pulling kite. If fact I would say its the most dangerous kite in the world for its lift, pull and size where you can just get it in winds that will be bad.

Its a lifter and pulls really hard right to the edge, over shoot an inch and its done.
But I haven't used that many other kites too be saying much.

I got one for a low wind kite and found if it can fly, it stills pulls hard.

I found that power rings help it turn a bit faster, but your kite being new may be better than the older ones.

Good steady wind is the way to go. Don't fly it in gust because you'll have no warning before it whips you.

Just be careful and learn it in the lowest wind you can.

You have finer control over brake input. Also a kite turns faster when you are applying a combination of brake and power inputs. Combination turns can allow you to essentially pivot the kite on one wingtip. There is a pretty good explanation of this in the Flexifoil Landkite Manual on pages 26-7.

I would use the term "more precise control" as opposed to "easier control".

hey hardrock ya not wrong there dude bout how hard it pulls i think i went out in too hard a wind today for the first time in flying this kite. it did whip it right out of my hands today

wot do ya mean by power rings? i did notice that it did turn really slow too.

At one point, Kam was going to put power rings on his 12M Ace. Not sure if he went through with that or not, but he might have some insights. Give him some time to post, as he is in Japan so it's that whole time zone thing :wink2:

Actually the 2m is the most dangerous kite, cause in high wind a gust can toss you like a empty can,but there is not enough sail to float ya down. So it drops you like a rock,even if ya redirect. Also ,the sheer speed of that devil on strings is like lightning. The 2m is so dangerous,Pansh wont sell it w/ handles or linesets.

Someone might know a link to the rings that can explain it better.

Its a steel ring on about two feet of line. You'll have to try different lengths and see what works best.

I put the ring on the rear line where the flying line attaches to the kite. Then larks headed the other end of the power ring line to the front line on the kite where the flying line attaches.

I used a 1" ring from the hardware store and some old kite line I had. Basically your putting a line between your front line and rear line on each side. The front is tied on and the back slides up and down with the ring. So it puts a little pull on your trailing edge when you pull to turn with the front line.

I wouldn't doubt that one bit Weldngod. Now your making me want to fly a 2m. LOL

I really don't know about many kites, just making a point. I can see your reason but never thought about it before, Thanks, it makes perfect sense.

Dang Wolf, Good job, your always right on top of things.

I just took a short clip of a vid I have to try and upload. If it works I'll post it. But those links hit the spot.

Mine are 21" That foot to knee thing isn't telling you much. LOL
