Cool and the price is right. May just have to get one. Will serve double duty- speed and direction...

 6,12,18 great range! Funny, I didn't see any 8,16,24 on the website.

I sent them an inquiry to see if they still make them... I used to sell these on ebay..

I'm kind of old school anyway. I've got a 10' collapsible pan-fish pole with a 'dollar store' wind sock. When it's standing straight out and flappin, it's the 2.4 NPW or smaller, fluttering half way, the 3.5, to 4.8, and if it's just hanging there I pull out RASTAS FURY!

Gotta get me one of these.

8/16/24 are pretty easy to guage on the beach. 8 is a nice solid breeze, 16 and it's blowing, and once it hits 24 the sand starts to blowing along the beach.

I guess it would be nice to know if it's a solid 8 vs 5 before setting up the kite, something I face.. do Iwaste time setting up a kite even though I know it will not fly ;)

I think a regular winsock and environment will provide you as much data as these 3 values through. Now if they had a flag with 5/8/10/12/15/18/20/25/30/35/40, that would be sweet :D

The 8-16-24 are under "Driving Range Flags". Here

Those are cool. I need one that says,

You might can fly a big kite!
and
Try any kite and you'll eat dirt!

as these are the only two wind conditions we have here.

The only problem with the flags is they tell you the wind speed at the ground and it could be much different 100 ft. up in the air.

this also very true. And I'd be likley to put this up (at the bach) by where I sit which has much different wind then by the water or even moreso out on the water.

I almost never use my anemometer anymore , unless it is screamin. I guess after a few yrs, ya start to develop a good sense of what it looks /feels like at any given speed.

Yah, between Jim and I, we can get about within 1 mph when it's under 20

rocfighter - 2-5-2010 at 04:36 AM

All you need is a small wind tunnel and a wind meter. And then start with some strips of heavy nylon. Add wieghts as you increase the wind. Then sew them together and you have your own flag.
Now where can I find a wind tunnel:dunno:

I feel your pain bro.

My conditions are usually as follows:

1.) Too much for the Reactor
2.) Not enough for the viper

Cant wait for the apex to get here! lol
