NEO 2 vs Peterlynn Charger or Venom?

ICTKITEFLYER - 2-5-2010 at 08:24 AM

I am interested in both of these kites. I think I can get the better deal on the NEO 2 but does the PL kites out perform the HQ kites?

I work at the control tower in Wichita KS and we had a guy go to Brunswick today in a Cessna Citation....

Best option would be if you can meet up with a demo, or someone who has one or the other and fly them, see which one will suit you better? IMHO, you have to get used to either, therefore get the one you can get some help with. But it is said, once you go to the D'arc side....:spin:

I'll bet you get a lot of Cessna traffic there(!). We get a lot of Gulfstream traffic as Brunswick is where Grumman builds the interiors.

"Performance" is a relative thing and largely a question of style. I tend to think of the Neo as a comfy park-and-ride kite while the Charger is the faster turner for working the kite on water. Venom somewhere in between, likely.

remember for a single kite that wind ranges will be way different on water. 15 or so meter is a good cross-over size, depending on weight. Low end for land will be about 8 mph, more for snow, and 15 for water.

Yeah I guess I should have mentioned that I am 6'3 235lb I was pos looking at a 14m Neo and an 8m we always have good winds here in KS. I also didn't mention that I am from Beaufort, SC.. Do you know where that is? Anyways thanks for the info...

Hijack alert! Welcome from a fellow FAA'er. There are several Controllers on the forum. Must be because we're interested in flying but can't afford an airplane on our salary, lol. I am an FLM with 28 years experience (somebody say "retirement"?) the last 17 in FLO ATCT which is not too far up the road from Beaufort. You guys training as much as we are?

What are the average winds in ICT and do you have access to a water venue? How about your kiting experience?

Best advice is try before you buy if at all possible. Got to be some other kiters there somewhere. All that wind and nobody using it?
