Hey I am looking for a cheap board to just practice before I do kite surfing. This guy offered me his MBS Sol 16. for $40. Is this a good deal? I
might be able to get it for 35 if I haggle. Is this board good or some piece of #@%$#! that will break after one ride? Well heres some picture of it.
Thanks

Appears to be well used, so I doubt it's gonna fall apart your first ride. MBS is a quality brand from what I read and hear, I've never ridden one,
but it seems for 40.00, or 35 if you haggle, if you ride it 5 or 10 times, you got your money's worth. I'd prolly take care of some of that rust, and
do a close inspection of the trucks. Never rode one with brakes either, I think they would just get in the way. The wheels alone must be worth
40.00. just my opinion.

I paid 100 bucks for the same board in similar condition, w/o the break but you don't want that anyway.

yea was going to take the breaks out. Yeah the wheels are expensive. I was thinking of just moding a skateboard but the wheels are like $50 for a set
of 4. What should i look for when i inspect the board, just see their no cracks and stuff? Well thxs for the info.

I wouldn't hesitate to get that board as long as it is ready to fall apart. Great price. Someone might be interested in the brake to.

Look to see if the maple is delaminating. Bounce and jump on it to feel if it doesn't feel right. Spin the wheels to check bearings. Make sure it has
eggs in the shocks. Did the previous owner jump al lot with it?

Hey thxs for the info. The guy said the board was used a few times in Vermont, and i guess looking at the pic didn't use it after lol.

I have a similiar board that I got started on. That one will work although if you get into jumping you will want to replace the bindings with some
F2s or better

leone,
Buy the Sol16, it's absolutely worth that price. That's the original grip tape from what I can tell and it doesn't appear overly worn. Check the
bottom of the deck/trucks for excessive gouges and wear from railslides. It looks like you may need to add some egg-shocks to the springs on this
board (I use orange on the Sol16, I'm 150 lbs.). There's $80 in useable parts on this board, I'll bet.
The Sol16 wood deck is a good one and mine has taken an enormous beating, but still rides well 8-9 years later. The trispoke hubs are heavy, but last
and will withstand some abuse. I like airliner tread. You can remove and replace the brake whenever you wish.
I've never used my Sol16 with a kite, but have thrashed in every other way (downhill, jumps, rails, dog-tow).
Good luck!
