Don't post on Craigslist...

ICTKITEFLYER - 12-5-2010 at 04:32 PM

So I thought I had a great idea. I made a post about trying to put together a kite club... Well turns out all you get are spam emails from about 30 people saying this that and the other, that honestly have no intentions on joining or helping start a kite club... Why even bother... A-holes...

Cos if you send 10,000,000 emails someone might actually buy the crap you're selling :(

ICTKITEFLYER - 12-5-2010 at 05:18 PM

yeah thats all it was were people trying to solict there product in the emails... bunch of scammers... ticks me off...

Kamikuza - 12-5-2010 at 05:22 PM

I've said it before, but if I ever win the Lotto I'm going to retire and spend my days hunting the little pukes down and breaking all their fingers ... slowly

Those are the people that 10years ago baught into one or more of theose TV comercials. How be be a millionare and all you need to do is send out adds. I think most of them are broke living in dumpsters now. But I think I heard the guy that started it is in jail for tax fraud

My girlfriends continued faith in the benign nature of any and all Craigslist users is a ongoing source of frustration and concern.

I am fine with benefit of the doubt, but outright semi-blind trust requires a few additional ticks of the odometer.

Sam

craigslist sucks, period....... most of the people selling there either dont know the value of the stuff theyre selling, or they are simply dishonest.......

Jovver - 13-5-2010 at 09:47 AM

On the contrary, I've been using craigslist for a while, and have never had any outrageous spam emails or issues. As long as you are cautious about the business you do on there it's fine. I like to have a brief email convo if they are actually interested in the stuff I'm selling, then I'll give them my phone number so that they can call. I am completely honest with the description of said stuff so that they know exactly what they are getting into. If they have to ask a lot of questions about what you are selling then you didn't do a good job describing it in the first place. A complete description goes a long way...

i suggest you send this post to every craigslist city out there--you might get it, but the majority of sellers ive seen on there certainly dont

ICTKITEFLYER - 13-5-2010 at 04:29 PM

doesnt matter--craigslist is basically useless IMHO

teklife - 10-7-2010 at 04:05 PM

jeez, what haters. you know where we'd be without craigslist? paying for ads on papers and wasting a lot of it. CL is an excellent resource for many things, and very convenient, but yes, your mileage may vary.

iluvgadgets - 10-7-2010 at 07:16 PM

I wouldnt use CL for any sort of 'club' or 'event' but have found it's ok for local for sale ads and as teklife says it's killed the newspaper classified 'pay for ads' business

BigMikesKites - 10-7-2010 at 08:23 PM

i just bought a trailer off craigs list. Thing is: you can't find anything advertised in the paper anymore, so it really was my only option other than new. I did look at alot of crummy trailers before I found one that was in really good shape for a decent price.

Hardrock - 10-7-2010 at 09:15 PM

Posted an add, got crap spam that wasn't related.

However, I have bought several items local that were jam up. One turned out to be a friend of a friend, another was a really nice kid, but the last I'm not to sure about, may have been HOT.

There's a ton of local stuff on there and when you go to a persons house, have their phone number and name, it seems cool.

Had some hits looking for a field, nothing worked out but nice folks did reply.

acartier1981 - 13-7-2010 at 08:48 PM

I have had some really good luck actually with buying stuff. People that don't the value of what they are selling but in the opposite direction. I got an oak bookshelf thats easily worth $150 for the wood alone for $40.
