Flexfoil not Flexifoil buggy on ebay

Dust Bowl Shredder - 17-5-2010 at 04:29 PM

Hello all.
My name is Tod and I am in Lubbock TX.Not new to kites but new to buggies.

Has anyone seen the Flexfoil buggy on ebay that someone is selling in the 300-375.00 range.

I dont see how they could be great machines but am wondering if it would be a decent buggy to start with.

I dont mind spending the money on a good buggy but I cant help but wonder if these flexfoil buggies are any good.

If anyone has heard anything or seen them please let me know what you think.

THanks

Cheap knock off...garbage...

Dust Bowl Shredder - 17-5-2010 at 04:36 PM

The seller is the real problem. Search Rockville buggy Romano buggy and Kite trike for reviews on the actual buggy. I have seen the Rockville in person. Many on here have owned them.

The seller keeps re-naming it to avoid bad press. The man is completely mad!

The buggy isn't the worst as a starter but has some real issues you need to be aware of + will leave you wanting to trade up sooner than later.

BeamerBob - 17-5-2010 at 04:40 PM

It is a copy of the least expensive buggy on the market. The seller then shamelessly leaves 1 letter out of the name "Flexifoil" and can then claim it is not the same when his product is called a "Flexfoil". You might have to squint to see that the "i" is missing. If he put as much effort into being a legitimate businessman as he does to be a crook and scam artist, he could probably be successful. Instead he just comes across as a loser.

mougl - 17-5-2010 at 04:41 PM

Stupid phone won't let me edit lol...

Anyway...id steer clear of that bug as the seller changes the name of it almost monthly. No telling what it actually is. For 375 you may as well spend the extra 150ish and get yourself a new PL comp XR+ or look for a used one in good condition. They pop up here pretty regularly so just keep checking. Id hate to see you drop 375 on that thing, then have to spend a few hundred more to make it rideable when you could have got a quality bug for less ya know? Buggies are like kites, you definately get what you pay for...

Dust Bowl Shredder - 17-5-2010 at 04:47 PM

I am thinking the same thing. El cheapo.
If a flexfoil or PL comp xr is out there for sale used and you know of it let me know.fI am in the market for a good one.

ive got a flexifoil buggy. it even has a skate for the front tire and 2 skis for the back.problem is, i love the thing and i couldnt sell it--even if someone gave me 100 more than what i paid for it, i still wouldnt sell it. lots of good times and very scary moments have me emotionally attached bigtime. but keep looking around ,one will pop up here from time to time.......

Dust Bowl Shredder - 17-5-2010 at 06:35 PM

Okay...I found this on Craigslist the other day and have been emailing the guy back and forth and finally figure out he is full of it....turns out this too is a flexfoil buggy.
I did a search for Jonesband1998 and found out all I need to know.
Lets just say to all just stay away from this seller.

Anybody find a real flexi buggy please let me know.
Thanks for all the input guys.

A legitimate flexifoil buggy is really nice, I've got one and they are well built and comfortable. Once you do fine one, you'll be glad you didn't get the knock off. Best of luck finding one.

DAKITEZ - 17-5-2010 at 10:06 PM

the original flexifoil stainless buggies will be hard to come by as they are no longer available at this time. The new Flexifoil scout is available. The main difference is powder coated instead of stainless and a little more beefiness in areas that take the stress. Still an excellent buggy and available here in the States.

Let me just save you some time and effort. You will get a buggy and love it. You will become hooked like the rest of us. So just start off right and get an MG CrooZer or XXtreme Apexx :wee: You will end up there eventually anyway

Dino is spot on here...

JIBE was my first REAL seat time and I'm already thinking about mods AND a new buggy all together...cant get the speed I want out of mine soooo mod it up for freestyle and get a race bug for the speed :spin:

DAKITEZ - 17-5-2010 at 10:14 PM

Mougl knows I won't steer you wrong. I will tell it as it is. It may not be what you want to hear but I will tell you like it is.

ripsessionkites - 17-5-2010 at 10:17 PM

When in doubt ... Ask lots of questions. Good on you for searching around first.

To point you in the right direction

Flexifoil makes the only model now called the Scout and you can view it on their website at www.flexifoil.com
there is also a SS version however it's been discoutinued but if you can find a used one it's still good

like other have mentioned there is also the Peter Lynn xr+
www.peterlynnproducts.com

if you want to spend more money than you have even more options.

You just have to decide what you want to do; cruise, freestyle, jump, speed or race.

mougl - 17-5-2010 at 10:26 PM

Dino and Rip speak the truth here...I have been looking for a bug that does it all, but such an animal doesnt exist.

Here's the thing though: Once you start in the bug, you WILL want more than one. (if you are anything like me) I figured I'd get a bug and just cruise around. The first taste of 30+ mph I got and I was hooked on speed. I want to bust thru that 100km/h like its not even there. My xr+ wont do that...gonna need an apexx or something similar

Than I got my first taste of a REAL power slide, etc and yeah I want to freestyle too. xr+ WILL do that but with a couple minor mods.

Bottom line: You cant go wrong with the Flexi Scout or the PL Comp XR+ to start with, but it definately won't be what you end up with! :P

I dont normally talk about anyone else but that jonesband1998 seller is a tool! He had kites advertised as a Montana so I sent an email asking if the picture of the guy landboarding was actually flying the kite he was selling. He replied back with a "yes he was." Funny because the pic he was using was taken directly off our site and it was one of our team riders and the picture was taken by us. What a complete looser! False advertising, lying douche bag...

Kamikuza - 17-5-2010 at 11:36 PM

... if you want to write up a webpage to publicly shame this guy, I could get it hosted for free on "my" domain :)

csa_deadon - 17-5-2010 at 11:59 PM

The best thing when choosing a buggy. Hook up with some riders in your area. Sit in a few, and find what fits you best. Ride a few a find which one agrees with you and go from there. We can all tell you that this buggy is better then that buggy, but the feel and your riding style will ultimately make the decision for you.

if you need a speed or race buggy ... the apexx is the ticket to success + a pair of pants too.

pokitetrash - 28-5-2010 at 07:45 AM

I started with a Rockville because it was cheap and I didn't know if I'd like buggying.. (thats an oxymoron right there...), It worked OK for training, then went to a Flexi wide tire, then built a FlexiLynnBiggi Lounger. Once you played on a few diffeent buggies, you can offen hybridize the best of good buggies. I like cruising kicked back against the back rest so it fits my lazy personality. Now I just need to figure out where to mount the buffet...

I emailed Jonesband about the Flexfoil asking him if it was indeed a Flexifoil to see what he'd say and he wrote back that it was a "Flexifoil". Not what the pic showed though... Looked like a Rockville... Someone should post something on eBAY selling a "How to get into Kiting" manual for $1 and the very first thing should say "Dont buy anything from Jonesband". #2, Read PKF!

mougl - 4-6-2010 at 04:30 PM

Nah, not THAT sissy...

The short version of the background on the "sissy stuff" is:

@ JIBE dinner, Pokite orders a Blue Moon....gets called a sissy by Frank...I then proceed to order a Blue Moon as well....hmmm....beats the h#ll out of bud!

ragden - 8-6-2010 at 05:23 AM

If you havent gotten that flexifoil buggy yet, take a look in our "for sale" section. There is a Peter Lynn Comp XR+ posted there for a very good deal...
