WTF!!! this guy came out of nowhere

dgkid78 - 25-5-2010 at 07:24 PM

So I was at my local spot yesterday and I am crusing along and I see this guy unpack this thing and I was like a little kid, runnin up to him. I needed to know why he was planning to paraglide only 15ft above sea level. Tells me he only got into the sport about a month ago and was practicing some drills like walking and i guess taking the glider down. I have never seen anything like this up this close. amazing light material too. 63yrs old this guy. good for him!!

That sport is actually more popular here than kiting ... with a motor though. They seem to do endless setup, waddle a bit then land the kites.
Wife said if I lose enough weight, she'll buy me one :D

You know there's many styles of paragliders and you'll need at least one of each kind!

Pretty cool and hopefully he has good control or he'll likely get both of you banned from the spot.

On a busy weekend at Gary point it is common to have a couple of folks kiting paragliders, a few flying 1 line, a group team flying Rev's, a few buggies, anATB or 2 and myself on Blades.
All in one tight park and almost all at the same time :o
Intimmidates the heck out of the newcomers :smug:

He seemed to be doing well of keeping her balanced above his head as he slowly walked...seemed to have good control when he would lose the balance, with a quick take down. fingers crossed.:thumbup: I was just all giddy like a little kid. I actually recorded him a little bit with my Ipod
