Sunset Beach, Oregon next week

Harald - 1-6-2010 at 12:18 PM

I am planning to head to Sunset Beach for a couple of days next week - tues & wed june 8 & 9. Would enjoy meeting some other buggy riders, if anyone has the time off mid-week.

I am fairly new to the kite buggy scene and this will be my first beach experience. Looking forward to some wide open spaces.

I will be heading to southern Oregon later in the week, so could meet up with someone further south, say on Wed, or Thurs.

Harald. Please PLEASE. Take my 9m Blade along with you !!!! It is not too much kite for you in low wind , I promise. All too often Sunset is big kite country ! Not to take one would be a mistake.

You can't bother me by damaging this kite. I got my $200 out of it LONG ago ! It's still a nice reliable low wind engine.

I'd take him up on that if I were you. If it's nice out right now I have no wind but rainy and nasty then I'm getting 11-24 mph SSW.:flaming:

Southern oregon? Coastal or inland southern? :puzzled:

Harald - 1-6-2010 at 09:34 PM

Jon - what's the best way to find you when I get down there?

windpoacher - I am heading to Lake Klamath for the weekend of 11-13 for a steam boat meet. Is there any kite buggying in the Medford or Lake Klamath area?

WIllardTheGrey - 1-6-2010 at 09:41 PM

Here looks interesting. If you happen over that way let us know.:eureka:

Finding Jon is easy. Just look for the shiny black Jeep with no dirt on it!

Bladerunner - 2-6-2010 at 06:16 AM

Sorry I missed you last night. Try and get ahold of me / come by this evening and I can give you the Blade + the low down on Sunset.

windpoacher - 3-6-2010 at 04:50 PM

medford doesn't have much for buggying, but klamath falls has a few area's!

arkay - 7-6-2010 at 04:54 PM

I just buggied up Harald!

Wind is hauling and should be increasing til 8pm before it cuts out. Sweet for the 9pm sunset! Tomorrow loooks like 8-10 and another fantastic day!

Wish I could give them a tour but I'm stuck at work... :(. Have a great time guys!

airin - 7-6-2010 at 10:41 PM

Thanks for equiping my bro with wheels, arkay.

I'm sure he's going to put that new bug to good use, post haste!:D

coryseiber - 13-6-2010 at 01:51 PM

was out there yesterday. sweet weather. headed out there now. hopefully its decent.

coryseiber - 13-6-2010 at 03:42 PM

well, i had a misfortune. the line at the bar broke. so i was out there for 5 min or so today.

arkay - 13-6-2010 at 04:40 PM

Yikes! I was out on manzanita with the kids... I was letting them fly the sting 1.2 while I was holding onto the bar and them. Wind was wild again, 14/25/34. Saw a kiter from BC get lofted on land when a crazy gust blew by. He's ok, but a crazy experience. Note that at no point in time could I ever not fly the 1.2 with one hand :D Gotta love that kite!

coryseiber - 14-6-2010 at 11:19 PM

is anybody gonna be out there this saturday?

csa_deadon - 15-6-2010 at 02:22 AM

Think most of us are going to be up in Long Beach this weekend for the NAPKRA demo day.

Just wanted to report back that I had a couple of fun days on the Oregon beaches last week. Thanks to arkay for the folding PL buggy. Sunset beach on tuesday was pretty light winds, but nice and warm. It was fun to fly with Monty, and Brian, and then later on Sunset Jim popped by to say hi.
Wednesday was rainy so we headed down the coast to Newport. Thursday morning there were still some showers around but the wind was blowing straight on to the beach. Between the showers and the incoming tide, I squeezed in a couple of hours of excellent buggying on South Beach! Heaps of fun, and I am looking forward to getting back out to those beaches again, maybe for s.o.b.b.
