Not sure that's daisy chaining.... as least not like how it's done with SLKs.... more like figure-8ing without the winder/flat card.

Funny, I was mulling over the some of the past posts about parapacking on the way to work this morning (yes, I need to get a book to read on the train). :smilegrin:

P.S. Where the heck are people finding these huge parcels of open land..... would need to hijack military equipment and force current occupants out to find anything like that around here.... The military equipment would also be needed to prevent anyone from immediately turning around and putting up a golf course or mini-mall on the cleared land. :mad:

Somehow when I put a lot of effort into packing up nicely, it never unpacks that smoothly. I guess practice makes perfect...

I'm thinking that we'll have a DAKITEZ version soon too, as my way of parapacking is a lil on the tech/anal/neat side and DAKITEZ just stuffs his into the bag with his kite... Neither way is wrong, in fact both ways are correct... I just have a knack/natural/anal ability to fold my lines in an 8 pattern, I've had issues trying DAKITEZ's way as it wants to catch on my watch ring or even my wrist and I end up fighting the lines... with these vids people should be able to find there way to pack if they haven't yet... I'd say we have a 95% success rate we do once in a while have a tangle, and usually anybody can grab our kites and unpack tangle free, knowing the procedure (stake the handles and walk the kite out)...

Yeeaahh, everyone loves to give me $h!t about the pants... and since everyone loves it so much I feel obligated to wear them... LOL... A few of the guys @ NABX called them my "HAMMER TIME" pants...

& no it's not daisy chain, I think that's how they pack up power cords on construction sites, kind of a knit/crochet weave... Don't know if that would work... Hmmmm...

That was pretty what ever you call it, not the legs. LOL

I fold the kite, put it in the bag, then walk toward the stake stuffing the lines into one side. Then the handles last.

To unpack, pull the handles then walk away with the bag as the lines pull out. Not near as neat as yours but works. Then when the rain is about to drop out, I wrap the lines around the handles and get heck out of dodge.

@ hardrock, that's very similar to DAKITEZ but he walks back to the handles (like me) and just stuffs as he pulls the lines in... its all correct, just trying to show how easy it is to those afraid/reluctant to try!!!

Yeah Rip, higher winds are a challenge but I suppose I fold it up as anyone would in high winds... just struggle... lol... the only issue is folding the kite, the lines don't have a preference on wind speed... hehehe...

great question though, at NABX I did some handle wrapping though due to the location and winds, not being able to stake the handles as easy...

I got my first kite from Dino. He mentioned that it was parapacked. Well. 3 hours later I had 4 seperate lines. So...needless to say, I have been pretty reluctant (SKEERED) to even attempt it again. But after watching this video, I think I can do it too. Not because it looks easy...but because my legs are TAN.

Ah, high winds - the real test of a man's parapacking skills :lol:

My skirt & shuffle method needs a video ... used it again last night. Will probably unpack the same kite tonight, hopefully it'll unpack fine :lol:

The big thing here is I'm usually packing/unpacking on a dirt field that has a lot of suspiciously sharp looking little stones so I don't want to be kneeling on the kite on the ground - I try to get it as close to wrapped in packed in my hands as I can ...

Akulakat - yeah I always think that people realize they're in for a monster tangle ... so they sell the kite :lol:

After unpacking for todays session, I repacked all the kites (except the apex, of course) with this method. Super easy to do, and fewer tangles :thumbup:

I haven't found any benefit to twisting the lines. Just throwning the lines it into the bag works like a champ.

But what we need is a video of the "sock" method of packing :wee:

no real benefit I think except it is super neat and clean. It would be a benefit if you needed to unpack the kite to allow to dry at home or something like that. you can pull the lines out in the same pile you put them away in. Where mine and your method its very hard to pull the kite out because of all the lines just stuffed in there.

and what is with all the high wind talk? I don't understand how it is any different than if you were packing up in high wind with any other method?

Considering that if your learning all by yourself with no one around to help, this video is insanely helpful I think. I wish I had seen before the first time I went out, I wouldn't have had to spend a half hour untangling the bridels, lol.

Ok, I unpacked a couple kites in my maiden new buggy voyage the other day and packed both up with the screwy method. I'll either be converted when I start setting up those kites next time or discouraged enough to NEVER try parapacking again. Could try Dino's method if I struggle with Screwy's. I must admit my AR side really likes it and I get better every time I do it.

I've tried this method and love it. Maybe I am just weird but I find it a lot faster to wrap the lines in the figure 8 method rather than just stuffing them in the bag. When I unpacked it I walked down the lines to check them but had no untangling at all to do which was great compared to what happened last time.

I wish I had know this method long ago. It would have prevented a lot of tangles when I needed to subdue & carry my kite and my pack was 200 yards away!

Glad its helping others, DAKITEZ deserves most of the credit as he filmed and edited and published this, I hope to film him and his style, as I feel its as helpful (if not more) as my method, because most people don't have to wrap so neatly like my SCREWY style for this to work... I just had problems stuffing as the lines had a tendency to pull out as fast as I'd stuff in, the lines caught on my watch, ring... and pull out after I stuffed in :flaming: LOL

To stop the lines popping back out as you pull your hand out, you gotta make sure they come out of the kite at the bottom of the bag ... we got no wind the next few days, I might do a "KK style" packing vid. With skirt wrap and fold :D

PL is kind enough to put a little velcro tab in the center cell to keep everything tidy.

Thanks Willard. I didn't see him undo the velcro and take the bridles out when he unpacked. Is he putting them in there a certain way so they come out with a little pull or?
