How much is it? Good thing sponsors are paying the bill.

We are staying at the mermaid inn. But the cottage/condo looks better.

vwbrian - 9-6-2010 at 09:52 PM

The one I requested is $78.50 + Tax. the cheapest they had but it does have 2 rooms. I may have to give up the one in July as I have another event I want to attend. If I get it, it maybe up for grabs to the PKF family.

arkay - 9-6-2010 at 10:20 PM

I was just planning to commute from manzo.

Oh my goodness. Long beach is pretty wide with a lot of soft sand, but if the with the quite low tide the beach should be huge. With a cooperative wind, this could be a dream. :Ange09:

Sat 19 June
Low Tide: 1:57 1.5 ft
High Tide: 7:31 6.6 ft
Low Tide: 13:52 0.9 ft
High Tide: 20:12 8.5 ft

Sun 20 June
Low Tide: 3:08 0.9 ft
High Tide: 8:50 6.2 ft
Low Tide: 14:48 1.5 ft
High Tide: 21:04 8.8 ft

Mon 21 June
Low Tide: 4:16 0.3 ft
High Tide: 10:06 6.1 ft
Low Tide: 15:47 2.1 ft
High Tide: 21:54 8.9 ft

C'ya next weekend !

arkay - 13-6-2010 at 09:43 AM

This event hasn't happened yet :D I wonder how the wind was for moclips... it was howling down here yesterday. Was on the v13 for a few minutes til I put it down. The first time I felt the upper limit :o

stetson05 - 13-6-2010 at 10:08 PM

:bouncy: I get to go!!! thanks to the great NAPKRA guys for getting this pushed through! Now I just need to find a good place to camp. Any ideas?

arkay - 13-6-2010 at 11:20 PM

I don't know of many campsite places on the WA side unfortunatly, but there are a bunch of RV camps. And the only state park I know in that area on the WA side is Cape Disappointment.

Tent or RV? :)

BTW, please bring your hydra :D

My wife asked, "what kite are you going to take?" I of course replied, all of them. I know Flecht camps alot. Maybe he will know of a place too. I will have to check how far away cape dissapointment is.

It was pretty darn good :) Most kite being used on Sunday was in the 2m range (20-25mph) and up to a 3m for tandem riding. Saturday was a bit lighter (10-15). A very good trip all in all. Hooj beach, good winds and as usual, great people.

Long Beach next... Don't miss it.

arkay - 14-6-2010 at 08:45 AM

Sounds like a great time! Too bad I missed it, I would have loved to Jim on a 2m. I'm not even sure I saw him on something that small at NABX ;)

vwbrian - 15-6-2010 at 05:35 PM

Wind's were high on Sunday 2.1 Speedy was a good size for me all day long. Monday I was the lone kiter. the 3.8 Reactor was the kite for me on monday. I shoot some video but have not been home to download it yet I will post something up.

arkay - 20-6-2010 at 10:08 AM

Weather update from the ground?

Its dumping in manzo... long beach report was upgraded to 70% change of rain all day long

coryseiber - 20-6-2010 at 10:31 AM

its raining here in astoria.....

arkay - 20-6-2010 at 10:49 AM

yeah its' raining here; maps look clear in long beach for the last morning and early afternoon til about 3. 2 bars of wind at 2 also...

Bladerunner - 20-6-2010 at 06:22 PM

It was raining at Long Beach this morning. I think everybody went home. Poor Brian drove up to find us all heading out.

I hold Fletcht personally responsible for the rain. ;-);)

fletcht - 20-6-2010 at 06:37 PM

Rain quit about 11:00 started againaround 5:00. Started with a 6 went to a 10 back to my 8. But I'm not a student of go big or go home. I'm more go moderate and survive. Jimmy was upon me by at least 2 kite sizes. Wind were about as close to onshore as you can get without actually being there. Long runs both directions all afternoon. To bad some of you had to leave. Thanks for everyone coming out. Had a lot of good comments from general public. See some of you folks next weekend.
On another topic if a coffee shop offers you a chocolate dipped garlic clove with your drink, walk away. Sat with me all day.

Fletcht, Thanks for making a great weekend possible!

I was watching the maps all morning and got a later start than I wanted but rolled in just before 1 and arrived to sufficient wind ~8W. Was hoping our bc friends would still be there but alas! At least by me the wind and good weather doesn't kick in til noonish. At one point I'm pretty sure it was in the mid to highteens. Was on the v19 all day and booked 40-some-odd miles! Had a great 9mi run... Only to dream of a 26mi run ;)

last run of the day the wind died while I was in a dead pocket, luckily, and funly, I was towed in off the back of my trailer wake-style! Packed up and headed out just as the rain came to say hello.

Another fantastic WA event!

arkay - 21-6-2010 at 12:52 AM

I've uploaded a few pics so far...

Bladerunner - 21-6-2010 at 06:52 AM

Wow

I thought I had shaken my abilaty to kill wind. :dunno:
Guess your glad we took our Vancouver weather back home with us ! :D
Thanks to everyone !

ripsessionkites - 21-6-2010 at 11:43 AM

great event and the beach was fun ... i would have stayed longer but we had a long long trip home. what normally takes 5hrs, took us forever with 3 car accidents along the I-5. so it was good we left in the morning.

see you at the next event, thank you again.

Bladerunner - 21-6-2010 at 04:52 PM

Is it just a coincidence those 3 accidents happened within the few minutes ahead of us KC triple 8 was ? That beast he drives got through and we didn't. I Jumped off on some other highway heading north?? Thought I was lost and then stumbled on the Tacoma dome and slipped past the big one !

In a Country where they constantly remind you with signs to KEEP RIGHT ACCEPT TO PASS, I can never figure out why the right lane is almost always the open one ????

I still can't see it.

Thanks for the pic Arkay. The video I thought I was shooting of the same thing didn't happen because of batteries. That last run was great until the wind died. That was great though how the cavalry came to the rescue.

Today the wind was from the south and no rain, about 8-10mph I think. I put in about 45 minutes going back and forth with the Speed to dry it out. It was kinda fun going up to the dunes and back. I was kind of amazed how much it wanted to go upwind.

It was a great time Fletcht! thanks for all the hard work. I started working on my wife to let me go to the next one but I don't think she will budge.

Susan (npw goddess)

arkay - 22-6-2010 at 03:53 PM

you have a unicorn horn on your head

stetson05 - 22-6-2010 at 06:16 PM

nice video! I like how the video turned out especially the bracket that shot from behind. You even got me on there at about 4:20 trying to make something happen. To bad I had to wait til the next day to get some good runs in.

thanks Rip for the go kart race. That was a lot of fun.

csa_deadon - 22-6-2010 at 11:04 PM

Grant nice job. Now if I had a 13, or 16m.......................

Yeah that was a close call. I managed to miss your but Rip just nicked your lines, alls good though. I had a blast and hope to make it to another one of these events. it was good to meet you and the other new faces I met on this trip.

Grant

ripsessionkites - 23-6-2010 at 08:29 PM

The next event better have a go-kart track around. Re-match.

For the long line lovers a 12m would be fine if stayed in the hardpacked. The whole idea to moving in light winds is to never stop when you need to turn if you still have speed make an upwind. If you slow down too much loop the kite downwards.

The 13m was on 15mtr length and the 16m was on the 17-18mtr length

Most of you BF drivers like 4-5 psi, but I prefer mine at max psi.

See ya soon
