Doctor: 'Self-amputation' may have saved man's life

Hartford - Jonathan Metz had been trapped for two days in his basement with his left arm stuck in a broken furnace. Smelling rotting flesh, he decided that amputation was his only hope. More...

On one level it says something about the man's survival instinct. Yet, I can't seem to shake the notion.... "Whatever happened to the 'buddy system'?"

I've contemplated gnawing my own arm on several occasions after a bunch of beer lowered my standards--alot! Fellas, you can give me a high five cause you know you've done it too!:piggy:

Oh yea, The story's we can't tell. Like one where I ran to the vehicle zig zagging one time and thats not the worst part.
