Wildwood Buggy Bash Official Dates

Todd - 14-6-2010 at 10:02 AM

October 22, 23, 24 with a full moon and low tides :singing: I'm thinking a night run is in order! Lodging is still being worked out to catch the best deal on a package. I'll update hear when more information becomes available. Is it October yet :puzzled:

bobalooie57 - 14-6-2010 at 10:08 AM

Sounds like a plan! Night run with costumes? (close to Halloween!)

Jovver - 14-6-2010 at 10:15 AM

Awesome! I will definitely be at this one. I'm already getting excited about it!

Maven454 - 14-6-2010 at 10:19 AM

It will be good to meet you Jovver.

bugymangp - 14-6-2010 at 11:35 AM

Todd - 14-6-2010 at 12:16 PM

Don't think you have to worry about any restrictions. The reason we do it in October is because the beach is then officially open to us.

Looking forward to this already.

Can't wait to meet you (and everyone else for that matter) as well!

So the way this condo reservation thing works is it is reserved for a week. I was planning on being up there Oct 17th- 24th. Anyone else planning on getting over there a bit early? It will be time well spent so I don't look like a complete noob when it comes to the buggying thing, and hopefully by then my skills will be a little better than downright embarrassing. :P

WELDNGOD - 14-6-2010 at 02:16 PM

I'm on it!

tridude - 14-6-2010 at 03:41 PM

think Ill put this one on the calendar if there are no objections..........................plus Power has a wet suit and rash guard of mine:lol::lol:

Todd - 14-6-2010 at 05:44 PM

Why would there be any objections? I for one would like to actually meet you and this would give you time to collect your goods from Power who needs to show up for the ride!

WELDNGOD - 14-6-2010 at 06:04 PM

Now if we can get the good man at the Apollo to be open for us.I really like the proximity to the beach, that was sweet.

Only thing I'd object to is...

...the idea that you wouldn't try to make it!!

Funny that someone left something with Power... he is normally leaving stuff in my car, or Frathouse's for that matter... I think I still have a couple large containers of water bouncing around in my trunk from the last trip he took with us...

ripsessionkites - 15-6-2010 at 01:59 AM

wow!!! im so ... speechless. and honored.

first on my list is WC, so when I get back Ill have to see what I can pull off with work. my best bet is to skip out work for the weekend and attend this. fly in THU and leave MON. I would like to share a room if possible if Dino isnt coming with me.

however, i do apologize for not getting stuff to the event on the first go. however I have enough time now to get a package to Todd for him to hold onto in my absence should I not attend.

Rip Daskirtz Show will try for this if not we'll have to wait until the spring/summer event one of 2011.

keep you all posted.

tridude - 15-6-2010 at 05:46 AM

thanks guys and Im putting this on the calendar.....................look forward to meeting some new faces and pick up some buggy knowledge......................

any SOFKA folks wanna ride up let me know.......

shehatesmyhobbies - 15-6-2010 at 12:09 PM

STOKED!!!!!!!

rando - 18-6-2010 at 03:26 PM

Seriously, I need this to get here fast. To put it into perspective, I bought a buggy at the last bash and the tires STILL have the little rubber things on them that show that their new. That's how little i've been able to buggy, I haven't even worn them off yet and its killing me :flaming:

WELDNGOD - 18-6-2010 at 03:37 PM

I bought tires before WW and I buggied my arse off there, and have been buggying several times since and I still got those little thingys on em. And I have been powerslidin!:dunno:

cheezycheese - 18-6-2010 at 03:52 PM

Hey Rando, heard you and Jaymz got skunked at Belmar last nite. cant say I'm sorry i missed it...:Ange09:

WELDNGOD - 23-6-2010 at 04:01 PM

I was lookin at EL wire to put on my buggy and I found this.
http://www.elbestbuy.com/stickman1.html
Imagine a dozen of these kitebuggyin at night at WW

rocfighter - 25-6-2010 at 03:32 AM

That stuff is wicked cool. I saw it years ago at a night fly in Newport at Kitemania. That guy won the best display.

Jovver - 25-6-2010 at 07:35 AM

When is registration for the event? Are there any requirements to register? I remember at Kitestorm there was a helmet requirement and several waivers that had to be signed. Is it the same deal with WBB?

Maven454 - 25-6-2010 at 07:37 AM

No registration, but if you show up without a helmet, we give you a wedgie.

Jovver - 25-6-2010 at 07:40 AM

Lol, that's pretty embarrassing... good thing I have a helmet...

Jovver - 25-6-2010 at 10:56 AM

This might be a silly question, but are jumping/ scudding activities banned from Wildwood? I'm assuming that since we are allowed to buggy and ATB there, any other kiting activity should be acceptable. Are there any formal rules or regulations for the event?

rdavis - 25-6-2010 at 11:15 AM

None.

Just be aware of your surroundings and try to be respectful of any beach goers of course. ;)

rocfighter - 26-6-2010 at 02:46 AM

And yes even the ones that see us running back and forth and still set up there kids right in the middle of everything.

WELDNGOD - 26-6-2010 at 04:02 AM

that was funny ,like we were gonna quit just cause they showed up:lol::lol:

shehatesmyhobbies - 26-6-2010 at 04:48 PM

Just trying to bump the page over, can't get to page 2!

shehatesmyhobbies - 26-6-2010 at 04:50 PM

Jovver you will have a blast, we are just as relaxed as possible, love to hang even when the wind is not kickn, Just respect other flyers and respect the public and all will be great. You will see! Lots of room to go around those who need going around!

bigben91682 - 27-6-2010 at 12:00 PM

Looking forward to getting back to wildwood! See you all in Oct.

Some photos from this spring to whet the appetite:

bibitedog - 27-6-2010 at 02:13 PM

Is blokart welcome.
Maybe we could do something all together. Just a idea.
:eureka::eureka::eureka:

Maven454 - 27-6-2010 at 02:22 PM

Plenty of people there were riding blokarts. They're just fine.

Jovver - 27-6-2010 at 02:22 PM

Blokarts are 100% forbidden!... just kidding! Check out bigben's album, there were plenty Blokarts at the last one.

bigben91682 - 27-6-2010 at 02:36 PM

I'm hoping to debut my DIY zooter at WW october, hopefully running with the blokarts.

rando - 27-6-2010 at 07:08 PM

Weldongod: I guess those rubber thingies hang in there pretty good :D but i'll still be looking for opprtunnities to burn them off :bouncy:

Cheesy: Yeah, that was a pretty brutal day down at Belmar. Both me and Jim (and our kites and our buggies) got repeatedly dragged into the ocean. That stuff gets old quick...but buggying is always worth the suffering.....I think? :eekdrull:

By the wayyyy Cheesy, I heard something about you not being "allowed" to come out and play that day, is that true??? :D :D :D

cheezycheese - 27-6-2010 at 09:01 PM

:embarrased::embarrased::embarrased: er, umm there might be some truth to that...

Uhh..... I called you the night I left SC and left a message so when you didn't call back I figured you just wanted me to keep it.......:puzzled::puzzled:
On second thought, maybe I just figured the wrong thing......
Sorry about that tri, let me know if you want it shipped to you, I know it's a bit overdue:no:

rocfighter - 28-7-2010 at 05:06 AM

Do we have any info yet wether the Appollo will be open still?:dunno:

shehatesmyhobbies - 28-7-2010 at 11:37 AM

Hey roc, according to the NJBC website, the Apollo will not be open and will not be the host hotel for the fall bash. They are checking into prices for Wildwood Inns and a few other places.

Can't wait for October!

tridude - 2-8-2010 at 06:47 AM

any updates or FYI info since the last post.....................Im coming and my son is still on the fence

masu - 2-8-2010 at 11:25 AM

Hi guys, i am new to this forum, however I would like to join the new event .

Tibi - 2-8-2010 at 11:25 AM

Welcome Masu.

shehatesmyhobbies - 2-8-2010 at 02:20 PM

Welcome Masu, the chatter will pick up on here real soon. The dates are set and look forward to meeting yet another new guy on the beach.

Tibby hopefully this time I can give that big red brute a shot! Was very jealous watching Rian fly it last bash!

Todd - 2-8-2010 at 02:24 PM

Welcome Masu!

Tridude, I'll check but as far as I know there hasn't been a decision on the official place to stay.

LostFoz1 and family will be staying with me at the Montego Bay so the kids will have the indoor water slide to play with. I'll make some phone calls and look for some deals.

Montego Bay Resort

shehatesmyhobbies - 2-8-2010 at 02:35 PM

That place looks awesome, might have to leave the camper home this time! Trying to check out the prices!

WELDNGOD - 2-8-2010 at 06:31 PM

Todd , the Mrs. and me will be there also.

rocfighter - 2-8-2010 at 06:42 PM

We will be looking into this place as well. Looks good to me.

WELDNGOD - 2-8-2010 at 07:20 PM

ragden - 3-8-2010 at 09:24 AM

Is Montego Bay offering any kind of special deal for us? Just curious.

Todd - 3-8-2010 at 11:08 AM

So far I have both the Montego Bay and Days Inn offering discounted rooms to large numbers however here's the problem... That weekend Wildwood is hosting two events and both places are predicting a sellout crowd so we need to act on this pretty soon. I'm still shooting for Montego Bay but things are filling up fast (per manager) I'll have set prices in a couple of days when both Mangers put together a package for me.

Off to Google more options :wee:

cheezycheese - 3-8-2010 at 12:27 PM

Where is this place in relation to the Apollo..?

Todd - 3-8-2010 at 12:31 PM

Days Inn is located across the street from the Convention Center and Montego Bay is in North Wildwood.

Working currently on a place 7 blocks south of the pier if everyone wants to stay together or go their separate ways.

ragden - 4-8-2010 at 08:14 AM

As I think we would be better off closer to the pier, I'd be curious to see the results on your "new location". Barring that, please let me know when to call the Days Inn to reserve my room.
;-)

What is our "competing" event?

Todd - 4-8-2010 at 10:51 AM

Well, things look a little brighter now...

Still waiting to hear back in an email from Days Inn on the discounted rate but the Montego Bay is pretty much out in my opinion. I received a phone call from another manager stating that there would be no discount due to the expected sellout weekend and that there were only 40 units left.

However on to what I found 7 blocks south of the pier were this little gem.

The Shalimar Resort

I spoke with the owner Maria about a group discount and she put together a banging package deal for us, even cheaper than the Apollo last May. :wow: This is what I have so far, for 2 people staying Friday and Saturday will only be $120. She mentioned $130 for a family but want to confirm that in an email. Those wishing to arrive early on Wednesday and Thursday will pay an additional $50 per night. Again I want to confirm these prices in an email before we book. Oh, and it has BBQ's on site as well as a community room that we all can kick back to watch some buggy videos or whatever.

How does this sound?

@ Michael - the other two events are October Fest at the Montego Bay and a Country Musical Festival at the Convention Center.

kteguru - 4-8-2010 at 11:26 AM

This sounds like a great option. Thanks for all your leg work Todd:thumbup:

bugymangp - 4-8-2010 at 12:54 PM

sounds good.
keep us posted.
and i thank you too todd.

WELDNGOD - 4-8-2010 at 04:35 PM

Todd , we wanna be where the majority of us are gonna be and that looks pretty good. No indoor pool but I plan on being too tired from all the buggyin we'll be doin:wee::thumbup:
That is a good price for me, put us down for 1 room w/ 2 peeps.

Man I hope I get my TRAMPA before October:wee::wee::wee::wee:

Todd - 4-8-2010 at 05:56 PM

I agree Donnie, we want to be among friends of the wind also. I expect to hear back from Marie soon.

You're welcome Dean and Glenn anything I can do to help!

So it looks like I need to call Maria to get her prices firmed up in an email. I did call the Apollo and spoke with the Mother to see if there was a chance they would open for us. I have yet to hear a response back from her but she was for it.

ragden - 5-8-2010 at 06:00 AM

Dude, the shalimar sounds good...
If you get those prices firmed up, that would be awesome.
I just want to echo the other thanks people are posting up, I know it can be a pain to run around contacting all these folks about getting this setup. Thank you for taking care of that man. We owe you one.
:)
Only question about the Shalimar is whether they have kitchenettes. My wife likes to cook food while we are out for weekends like this. See ya soon. :)

Jovver - 6-8-2010 at 05:24 AM

Todd, if you are taking roll call, put me +1 down for the Shalimar. Thanks again for getting all of this set up for the rest of us. You da man!

Welcome! First scroll to the top of this page and you will see the official dates of the 22nd through the 24th. Then head over to this thread and take the poll if you want to book a room >>Click Here<<

I'll give you a heads up when you need to call in for the reservation and then show up for the ride of your life. Take this event to soak in a tremendous amount of knowledge passed on by a bunch of good folk that just know how to do it and don't mind sharing.

I sure hope my spell/grammar check is up to speed
