New credit card

Kamikuza - 15-6-2010 at 05:35 PM

My bank decided I was such a great customer, they sent me a new card this week ... the limit has been raised to $15,000 and they gave me the choice of, instead of paying it all at once at the end of the month, joining the "Pay no more than $50 a month!" club  boy, do they not know what they could be letting themselves in for!

It's doubly amusing to me because of gringos have such a hard time getting credit cards ... most of the foreigners I know, even those married to locals, just can't get them! :puzzled:

You need to tell them about your "Kiting your way into Equity!" plan.

Actually, strike that.

You need to patent this and we'll take this show on the road, motivational speaking money here we come!

Kami how much they going to nail you on interest on the $50.00 a month plan? I never have trusted credit cards and still don't have one. Cash or don't get it. No loans or cards. I don't have much but it's all mine!!!:wee:

Wow.... that's almost better than the "Kamikuza discount card"... certainly more dangerous.

Can there be such a thing as a credit card that's a "widowmaker?" :puzzled: ;)

Sam

15% interest but I won't use it ... I like the idea of being debt-free. Well, within a few weeks anyway

The system here is a bit different to the one back home - the standard plan is you buy stuff and they take it all out of your bank account on the 10th of the following month. Dunno what happens if you don't have enough money in there, but I bet it's not fun
The only option you really have, is when you buy stuff to 'split' the payment eg. you buy a $300 thing (say a kite  ) and tell the store to enter it as a 3 times payment. You pay $100 a month with some interest.

I mostly got the card for PP and emergencies. But it came in handy for getting an ETC machine for reduced highway tolls ...!

I use a bank issued Debit card for gas and other purchases. It comes right out of my checking account and no late fees or bills.
But like you said it is costly if there is not enough in the account to cover the charge. $0.01 over draft is $30.00 charge. :o I am just carefull to keep money in there!
Sandy has a credit card and uses it all the time. When the bill comes she pays it right off each month. Then they send her a gift card for hooj discounts on one day of shopping at the store it's from.
I would not pay it on time and would have HOOJ fees!!!!
