tridude - 20-6-2010 at 06:48 PM

first session today in 13 to 15mph winds.............impressed on the low end of this kite, upwind wasnt a problem.......initial power by signing and speed of the kite................turns as fast as my/Beamerbobs 10m Synergy..................smooth and constant power, park and ride or sign your call.......depower thru the bar awesome, I never touched the trimmer but Im sure I can hold this one down to 25 mph no problem......very stable and grunty.....................bar, lines, CL and safety systems very nice and robust..................800lb front lines..........very impressed and look forward too many sweet sessions on this kite..........................

Do you have any pics or video? Have you tried any others of the Rev Series? I don't think I've ever heard anything bad about them. The only reason people sell them off is to purchase the newer models.

tridude - 20-6-2010 at 07:28 PM

Ill take pics and video to follow....................first time on a Rev but reviews are all positive..............I have flown a 13m SS Fuel.....................the Rev flies a bit like the fuel, fast and grunty...............I see you have a Link on the way congrats.....................

Jovver - 20-6-2010 at 07:35 PM

That I do! I'm intrigued by the fact that you can switch the bridle out to change it from SLE to C kite mode. I was really impressed by the way my Boxer SLE performed that I wanted another SLE. After I try it out, I'll have to post a detailed review up.

2nd water session.....................riding the 139cm KGB, winds 14 to 17 mph, incoming tide.....................sweet session................smoth power delivery and awesome depower thru the bar.......................faster turning coupled with more power thru the turns equals some sweet transitions..................canopy very stable thru the entire window ............................wave riding alot like the 10m Pulse......................easy down the line and no problems staying in the slot...................goes upwind well and nice pop and float on jumps.............I can easily take this kite to around 25 mph with the amount of depower in the bar alone.....................just slide the adjustable stopper ball up a few inches, totally depowered................very pleased with the kite and :lol:looking forward to a 20 mph day:lol::lol::duh::duh:

Nice. Hows the lift?

tridude - 24-6-2010 at 06:31 AM

lift is good, with nice float, redirect, land and your on your way. Im still learning the kite and the power delivery but again very pleased..................the active stopper ball is a nice feature. The big diff for me at his point is letting or not letting the bar out too far............with my Flysurfers you just speed up when you let the bar all the way out. With the SS you also let the bar out for speed but not to far i.e. the active stopper ball comes into play.............too far out and the kite will totally depower which is a nice safety feature but something Im not used to............the realuch, safety systems, and chicken loop are sweet........

tridude - 25-6-2010 at 09:16 PM

3rd session this afternoon.......getting her dialed in.......side on winds 17 to 20 mph on an incoming tide.......................smooth butter section over the sandbar with nice stomach high sets on the outside.....................no problems holding the kite at 20 with nothing taken out of the trimmer.............the occasional gust were munched, very stable canopy........................sweet kite:thumbup::thumbup:

Jovver - 27-6-2010 at 09:16 AM

Awesome! Glad to hear you are enjoying it! Are you flying it on a 4 line Slingshot bar?

tridude - 28-6-2010 at 05:23 AM

4 line slingshot bar............kite came complete.....................

tridude - 28-6-2010 at 05:24 AM

4 line slingshot bar............kite came complete.....................I have forgotten to mention the rear leader. Its very similar to the Synergy's VPC design...............Im sure the pulley assists with turn speed as well as bar pressure..............

Jovver - 28-6-2010 at 05:39 AM

Cool! On that bar, what is the point where the lines are equal length?

PHREERIDER - 28-6-2010 at 05:48 AM

COOL .

your KGB/ 13m should be great combo!

tridude - 30-6-2010 at 09:59 AM

4th session last night in 17 to 23mph winds...................woohoo I was lit but very controlable thru the bar and active stopper ball. This kite has great depower, and range. Still havent touched the trimmer. Again, amazing depower, grunt, turns fast, goes upwind easy (but nothing goes upwind like a Speed 2), the relaunch and safety system are nicely done. To sum it up a very practical, and functional kite for beginners as well as experienced riders........................:lol::duh::duh:

manitoulinkiter1 - 30-6-2010 at 07:06 PM

Hey stop it

I just got my 7 meter Rev today. Unfortunately around here I probably won't get enough wind to ride it until September.
Reading your post has me looking for an 11 or 13, and that might get me divorced !
They are well made and re-enforced kites.

couple of sessions last weekend one noteable downwinder from the south end of Folly to the washout (north end of the island).......................

SSW (side on at 45 degrees), winds 13/14 mph, incoming tide, 3 to 5 foot swell on the outside............power was there to stay upwind but we drove two cars and planned on the downie..................bunny hopping and boosting off the swell going out and some nice down the lines on wave faces on the inside..................kite does very well on waves, with quick redirects if you decide to take one off the lip................Ive probably got 20 to 25 hours under the 13m and it has not disappointed....................at the end of the session I pulled the emergency and the flagout was ho-hum easy............................built bomb proof durable (remember their testing ground is the Gorge) for waves and or the ground if you fly inland, very stable, solid power, and awesome depower thru the bar..........

Brent_P - 14-7-2010 at 12:21 PM

Awesome review, i did my first lessons on a 11m rev2 and am comparing every inflatable I touch to it... great kite

tridude - 14-7-2010 at 12:42 PM

thanks...................the Rev is very sweet......................OBTW nice choice of board;)

tridude - 16-7-2010 at 05:48 AM

sweet session last night outside the bar at 28.5...................nice chest high swell, 15 to 16 mph winds...................dumped the kite in the waves a couple times but easy relaunch and no trouble getting back to my board...................highly recommend this kite if your learning thru the experienced pilots.....................:lol::duh::duh:

tridude - 1-8-2010 at 08:43 AM

sweet sweet machine....................winds in the pic were around 15/16 mph.......................setting up for a turn, and back over the sandbar.............this kite has:

--great low end
--awesome depower
--stable
--goes well upwind
--easy relaunch
--nice in the waves
--excellent boost and floaty
--bomb proof construction

basically a solid all round performer
