Port Aransas hurricane report..

borntofli - 30-6-2010 at 05:30 PM

Hurricane is going ashore about 200 miles south of us... Winds here have been increasing all day, now about 35 gusting to 45... Should peak by morning... Bouy reading is 23 feet...

Shortboard surfers are jumping off the pier to surf, cant paddle out.

High tide is 8 am so town will be flooded w/ saltwater by the time the sun comes up....

Not great pics but it is pouring out....

Surprisingly no kiters out.....No place to set up, water all the way up to the dunes... Drift launching????

Thats a negative on flight.
I don't want to read any confessions of a kitesurfer that end badly.

LOL

Don't do it borntofli...you have to many new kites to live for!!!!

borntofli - 30-6-2010 at 05:54 PM

I dont have a high wind kite anyways....... But one is coming............

No Kiters are out because you'd have to be a nutcase to kite that freakshow wind.

Drift launching (I hope you are kidding on this one) would be suicide. Just get a gun...much faster and cleaner end.:ticking:

But not nearly as fun as it would be with a kite :wee:

Yea, I suppose kiting would be the more fun of the two ways to go. Good point.
