I want to up my game! Should I go to 4m or am I just plain crazy? Brands? Suggestions? Fears?Kamikuza - 5-7-2010 at 06:15 PM
How good are you with 2.2?
The only fears we have are whether or not you have the self-discipline to not take a bigger kite out in nuking winds indigo_wolf - 5-7-2010 at 06:42 PM
Have you flown any other quad before?
How much do you weigh? What are your typical winds where you fly?
It could just be that you are plain crazy and the larger kite would just exacerbate the effect :o
Are you flying by yourself or do you have a group to fly with?
Are you just looking to fly static or do you eventually have your eye on a board/buggy?
As Kam said, the problem with jumping to a 4M is that there might be iffy days where you tempted to go out even when the winds are too high.
Sometimes, the most dangerous words in the world are "It's okay, I'll be fine..." .... it comes in a close second to "Hold my beer, and watch
this..."
Break out the ruler....
The HQ Symphony 2.2 has a wingspan of 89" x 30"
Beamer III 3M has a wingspan of 126" x 42"
Beamer III 4M has a wingspan of 145.2" x 48"
Pretty sure that are some folks in the Harrisburg area that you might be able to hook up with and try before you buy.

Peek we gotta get out man, its just been so damn hot lately that I think we would melt :alien:
You could fly my Hydra or maybe the Beamer if the wife lets me take it :wow:BigMikesKites - 5-7-2010 at 08:35 PM
I think the safest suggestion would be if you go with a 2m or 3m 4 line kite before moving straight to a 4m. Unless you are bigger and/or have
someone helping you with the learning curve.Kamikuza - 5-7-2010 at 09:32 PM
Too ... hot? Sissy! Harden up, pigryder pigryder - 6-7-2010 at 05:20 AM

Could we harden up in the pool (that just sounds lewd :o ).... with a drink.... the kind with a big pink umbrella?
Oh... if I could get the bread lightly toasted for my cucumber sandwich, and the crust trimmed off.... that would be fab
I will be very surprised if they don't post health advisory warnings soon.... cats are in full-on "Lions on the Serengetti" mode.

OH yeh sam we've had health advisories for the past few days :flaming:acampbell - 6-7-2010 at 02:54 PM
We are down to the low 90's now and dry- almost chilly for this time of year. Air so clear and dry that from the top of the Lanier suspension bridge,
I could see the submarine pens 30 miles to the south in St. Marys
anyway...
4m is a fair jump from a 2.2 m, as that is big enough to have taught you some respect. As others have said, just be careful the first few times.
Sounds like you have pigryder around for support.
Look at Hornets, Beamers, Buster by PKD
If you want to step it up, look at Peter Lynn Viper for speed, or Twister for lift.Bladerunner - 6-7-2010 at 04:39 PM
What are you looking to do with the kite ? What do you weigh ? What is the typical wind speed you will fly in ?
I think if you are out to jump something closer to 5m would be better ? You need a larger kite to get floaty landings. It is a bit of a step up but in
a strange way is safer when it comes to jumping. Just respect all kites. They can all bite you if not careful.Kamikuza - 6-7-2010 at 05:13 PM
37'C? That all?
We know all about heat and humidity here in monsoon-season Asia ... 37'C is a fairly average daytime temp ... then pack yourself into a classroom with
42 kids and 3 teachers and no fans or aircon :wee: nights drop to a balmy 30 plus ...
The thing that makes me laugh the most - go down the beach for some kiting on the lake that's like 25'C and they're all wearing full-length wetsuits

It maybe sunburn factor, after a holiday here. Kami
Have seen some very pale Japanese looking like cooked prawns
and being real dicks not knowing how fried you can get
