dylanj423 - 25-7-2010 at 10:20 AM

so i have a line on a charger 12m.... really consideringf the purchase, but if i get it, i have to sell my phantom 15... im pretty sure i can get what i want for it, but...

will the 12m charger effectively perform in the same windrage as the 15m phantom?

really to different animals here,

P15 - mindless stability, slow turning, instant lift , heavy bar pressure, and POWER! all starting around 10mph.

ch12 - super quick turning, auto zenith is there kinda, BUT not like P15! a super active kite generates lift and speed. 20 mph plus it starts to come together with crazy fast turning! in 10 mph whole lotta work for a bunch of nothing. all with light bar pressure

with VERY LIGHT RIDER the CH12 would be fine , but it ain't no P15 !

Man, I couldn't get my 18 Phantom to give me "POWER" in 10 mph. I'd think a 15 would be even less, but I never was the biggest phantom fan. I can tell you that I sold a 12M Charger to a guy who was out here trying to ride his 15M Phantom on water in our conditions. He's a little guy, but the first day he hoped on the 12M Charger he instantly progressed. The Charger would go where ever he wanted it, right now. It turns fast, so much faster then the Phantom that you could easily generate more power with it, but if you don't want to throw the kite around as much, I'd go up a size. The chargers like to move. If you want a fast kite that will require you to fly it quickly, the Charger is it. If you want a slow predictable park it style kite, keep the P15.

"10mph" for land stuff,

for water more like 15mph. 15-20mph Phantom 15 is lit!

20mph + sublime airs at incredible speeds. challenging in swells and rough water, just gets to be a bit much.

for a heavier rider 180 lbs. + definitely up to a charger15

thanks everybody.... i was really hoping the 12 would fit the bill, but it doesnt look like it will...

with a little advancement, my kite preferences just keep getting more specific...i was in the surf the other day and found myself really wanting a more nimlbe kite...

but i love the park and ride aspect of the phantom on land... maybe thats another reason it was marketed and suggested as a "land kite"... i dont think i can sell it now that i consider that

thanks for the good, solid advice... i guess i will keep a lookout for a 15 charger, or (more likely) if one crops up sooner a 15 synergy... i know rip is selling one, but i am not one for the rasta colors (silly, i know)...

If you two (dylan and rip) aren't wild about the rasta color scheme, how do you feel about the red, white and blue? I just picked up, over trade, a 15M Synergy in those colors. I do happen to like the rasta scheme. It would also help distinguish f0rgiv3n's 15M from mine. If shipping is still free from the 15th to 29th and dylan wants a 15 I think we can make three people pretty happy. Shoot me a u2u either one of you, if you're interested. I do have a bar, but if dylan doesn't need one, I'd be happy to inherit an official 07 bar. :D
