A lot of folks will be at WSIKF in Long Beach, WA on that weekend, including Kelci and me.

Bladerunner - 6-8-2010 at 04:32 PM

ripsessionkites - 7-8-2010 at 01:58 AM

thats is the worst weekend ... with the same event as WSIKF. accommodations are over priced during that time.

someone u2u who is closet to Monty to get this buggy to the event. i've freed up some space now. LOL.

thx in advance

Morrie Williams - 7-8-2010 at 07:32 AM

It's the same weekend as WSIKF, but this event is in Pacific Beach - north of Ocean Shores and WSIKF is in Long Beach - near the Oregon border.

If the event registration is any indicator, no one is planning to go to Pacific Beach. If any one is planning to go, PLEASE register so others know you'll be there. http://www.napka.org//event_reg.php?Event_id=36

Rip,

Just to clarify, I'll be at Long Beach, not Pacific Beach and I'll be getting there around mid-day on Sunday the 22nd.
the WSIKF ends that day so the beach is quiet and rates are better starting that afternoon.

fletcht - 16-8-2010 at 08:58 PM

Do I have the Pacific Beach to myself ? I tried to register but I keep getting fatal errors. That's what Jeff got last time he visited Pacific Beach. Is this a warning?
Just kidding Jeff. If I'm the only one, then maybe the one lone pedestrian won't be bothered by me. I'll see others at Grayland at the end of the month.

bigkid - 17-8-2010 at 05:58 AM

Sorry Evans, you'll have to share. Not sure about the bug(I will bring it), but I will be there. Not going to let the the wind get the last laugh.

bigkid - 17-8-2010 at 06:20 AM

OK, I just tried to register and not sure I want to go now.
Got this, Fatal error: Call to undefined function ProcessPilot() in /home/napkra/public_html/event_reg.php on line

The fatal error part is NOT FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!

Morrie Williams - 17-8-2010 at 08:24 AM

Try it again at http://www.napka.org//event_reg.php?Event_id=36.

Morrie Williams - 19-8-2010 at 08:11 AM

Are Evans and Jeff the only ones going to Pacific Beach?

sunset-Jim - 19-8-2010 at 09:39 AM

I'm going to have to miss this one. Have to work :ticking:

arkay - 19-8-2010 at 12:19 PM

I wanted to be there but I'll be at WSIKF with the family and then at grayland then sobb.

Bladerunner - 19-8-2010 at 04:28 PM

Sorry KC triple eight and I are out.

Good news- I used the cash I would have spent on the Vio kite ! :wee:

bigkid - 19-8-2010 at 05:45 PM

Well Evans, I got some new kites to try out. Guess we got all weekend to play, big beach, may get lost from one end to the other:lol:

bigkid - 22-8-2010 at 06:38 PM

Sunshine, WNW wind at 3 to 5mph, Evans an I both have 10m on 165" and 200" lines and spent all day buggying up and down the beach.
Had to quit at 5:30, to tired to buggy any more, Monday should be more of the same :wee::wee:

Morrie Williams - 22-8-2010 at 07:38 PM

And what did your wife say about that???

bigkid - 22-8-2010 at 09:12 PM

She was not a happy camper. It was a bit tough to get in the bug, wasn't till Sunday that I put on my harness and hooked in. The QR system needs a bit of work but:bigok:
Hope to have it more refined by Grayland.
On the way to the beach, my wife said she wanted me to drive home, so I can't get hurt again. Happy wife, happy life:smilegrin:

Who wouldn't be tired trying to fly 10m kites on 5m lines (200 inches)... :P

bigkid - 23-8-2010 at 09:16 AM

Well, everyone talks about going big with short lines.
Next time, kite, bridle, and handles only:shocked2:

arkay - 23-8-2010 at 12:05 PM

Hey, I flew my phantom yesterday by holding onto bridals ... it was like a low wind self rescue:rolleyes:

fletcht - 23-8-2010 at 09:03 PM

I must say, I'm starting to become a fan of LONG lines. It is cheaper then buying a 12 or 14 M kite. As Jeff said, we had two 10M Century's. I had the new lighter material 10 on 200 ft lines then Jeff finished up a set of 165 ft. lines and we put them on the lighter material 10 and the long 200 ft on the standard material. Winds were very light, marginal to buggy with standard 30M lines. With my ability anyway. The two kites were very comparable with this configuration. When I was flying them separately the new lighter material was much easier to fly with light winds. Much easier to launch, etc. The standard material needed the extra 35ft of travel space to be comparable to the lighter fabric. I must say, parking a kite that hangs out over the top of the edge of the beach and cruise is really something. You can't get away with this, if the area is not wide like Pacific Beach and Grayland. Having that extra room to move the kite really makes a difference. I see a 10 M PKD century with the new fabric in my future with a set of short 50M lines for the days when the winds are only 2 to 3 mph.
