I recently learned that heat can negatively affect the laminate on some mountainboards. Is this also true for kiteboards?
I've been keeping my ATB and kiteboard in my car. Living in Texas, my car will get pretty hot parked out in the sun, and my garage gets kinda hot
too. What are the highest temps that are ok for these boards? Should I keep my precious boards in the garage instead? Or even in my house with the
A/C? It would be nice if I could leave them in the car all the time, tough. That way they would be ready whenever I need them.

The heat can be damaging to you gear if it gets too hot. Normally it isnt an issue but being in Texas it could get up past the normal temps.
Another problem that is getting more and more common is that people are starting to recognize kite gear and realize what the value of these items are.
Because of this, I hear of cars being broken into and gear being stolen nearly every month now. Thousands of dollars of gear can be ripped off in a
second, not to mention the damage to your car windows and such. For just a minute or two you can bring your gear into your garage or house where it
will be safe from scum thieves. Just last week another kiter here had his car broken into and gear stolen while he ran into the grocery store /
quickie mart for a soda. Wasn't gone for more than 10 minutes and lost nearly 3K worth of gear. Others have lost their gear while their car was
parked in their driveway at home....another lost some gear while his car was parked at his work. Both of these were in another state and not local so
it happens all over.
Keep your gear safe and don't leave it in your car if you can help it.

ive heard a few stories about cars getting broken into and people losing all their kite gear in one swoop... i would be a whole lot more worried about
that than some laminate damage...
... i have two closets full of space for my gear... ladies have their shoes... i got my kites

one thing you for sure dont want to leave in your trunk is your kite(lei)
take it out and put it in the back seat with a sun shade over it and the windows rolled down

WRT car theft, the vermin might not even know or care about your kite gear. If they boost your car for parts, joyriding or whatever, your gear could
very well end up in one or more ditches.
The GI board bag is thermally insulated to reduce some of the detrimental effects of heat on board laminates.
I tend to skew the other way about keeping stuff in the car. I have a problem with keeping anything in the car if the car is going to be out of line
of sight. I would rather rather keep stuff in gear bags that can quickly be transferred to and from the car as needed.
@HA: Windows rolled down?!?!? You have a much higher opinion of the general populace than I do. Or at least the yahoo factor. Someone got a
several grand worth of gear stolen out of their car in their own driveway last year.... no thank you.

yeah last time i left my kites on the sand though the valves melted off.
i guess leave your windows rolled down if you can always see your car at all times

Damn. People suck sometimes. I guess I'll keep my gear in the garage when not in use. The hot car effect explains why every one of my valves were
leaking last time I checked. Anyone know the maximum recommended temps for boards and kites? My garage gets above 100 every day now.

100 degrees in a shaded garage isn't near as bad as sitting in the sun inside a locked car. But A/C is nice too.

I'm w/ Mike on this, your garage is A: bigger , so it has more volume to buffer the heat B:Probably does not have thermonuclear radiation
shining in, drying the air and increasing temps to well over 120*f.
Me, I got a stacked pile of my gear in my bedroom,and I grab what I need and leave the rest. When I take gear w/ me to fly after work,I put it
behind the seat in my truck, and put one of those windsheild screens up to block out the sun. Seems to help keep the heat down some.
