Kids will now be in tow!

After three seasons of paying for ski lessons and rentals I just went out and bought my kids their own sets of skis so now in addition to having them join me on the slopes, I can finally start towing them behind me on the frozen lakes too :wee:

Praying for snow this winter :saint: :thumbup:

. I don't remember them joining you on the lake last year. They could have gone for a ride on the back of the snow buggy:wee::wee:

Just hope they don't go down and get dragged or take you out. I had my son in tow on the ice with the kitewing the past 2 winters...in a plastic sled.

Too cool. Make sure they know to let go of the tow rope. My son was 5 or 6 when he first went waterskiing. We ran the drill about letting go if he couldn't get up or if he went down after he was up. He popped right up, but when he crashed after hitting some chop, he forgot to let go. We slowed down pronto, but he still got teabagged pretty good.

Yes, it will be fun. Been pulling them on a sled for a few years now so I'm really looking forward to them being able to experience it with skis on which they'll have more control than a saucer. And if the wind is right and the wifey isn't filming well they might just get a chance to fly on their own :frog:

I would love kitewing on a lake on a day like Jaymz had.

Hey Roc what kind of conditions does it take to get a lake that fricken smooth?!?! No snow or what?

I played hockey for 13ish years and could only imagine what i'd be capable of with a kite and a pair of skatesss

That there is a salt water River. Navesink River in Red Bank NJ. A few miles down it dumps into the Hudson Bay. It's been freezing up the past couple of winters. There was a long stretch it did'nt freeze for years. I remember as a kid in the late 60's, early 70's when it was frozen for weeks/months every year. Huge ice boat club there so you really have to pay attention when ice kiting or kitewing'in.
The day I was out with my son in the video ice was rock hard and temps in the upper 20's. This video was the very next day. I went out with the 4m Scout for my first try at kite skating. Temps were in the low 50's, slushy, slow, and melting fast. I had on a PFD and ice picks. :thumbup:

That was the end of the '09 season.
Check out the guy at the 3:38 mark, he's around 70 years old and was sailing one of those ancient wood frame skate kites you lean on. :thumbup:

Roc, sorry to hijack the thread. All in good fun. Great to get the kids in on the action. How old are they?

My 12 yo got really got into sking and kiting last winter now Ive got two of everything more or less and I could use a bigger van! Its fun having him and an occational buddy to fly with me. You're going to love it!

snowspider carry a saw with you , kiteguru help me cut one down when i got mine in a tree in nh. this year . no damage and got it down in record time? , my first tree.

I do carry a saw in the van at all times but it was a huge black willow in a county park and too high to climb that makes 3 strikes so it ended up being the biggest kite up in the trees at that end of the park. Makes me sad I loved that kite.
