I am looking forward to the snow and want to fill out my quiver.
I flew a Pulse 2 8m last winter and it was great most days. When it was 25+ I packed it in and went home and we have a lot of those days in South
Dakota.
I am a big weenie and I am thinking about a 5m like a Montana or the like.
I weigh 210 and am 37 and a very good skier and snowboarder.
I do not ride water but do have 7 and 12 waroos that sat idle after I flew the Pulse.

FWIW:
Montana bottoms out at 7M
Neo II at 6M
Apex II at 5M
Spendy, but Ozone Access drops down to 4M.

At your weight, I doubt you would have many days that you could even use a 5m...unless you like going out in 30 mph conditions. I think you will find
that a nice 7m will be a much better choice for your light wind engine and that you would have many more days that you would use it over a 5 meter.ripsessionkites - 23-8-2010 at 04:01 PM
what type of surface are you riding on SNOW / ICE / POWDER???Bladerunner - 23-8-2010 at 04:23 PM
When winds are approaching 30 and I am ready to put down my 7m ( I am a wimp to ) I go to my trusty 2.5m profoi and enter survaval mode. A sweet kite
that never scares me and has never lifted me.
Maybe a good low lift 2.5 is what you are needing for those crazy days?kteguru - 23-8-2010 at 11:20 PM
I would think your 7m Waroo would work fine in 25+. If you didn't want to use a tube in the winter you could always consider something like a 6m
Access. I would think a 7m montana would have some overlap with your pulse and a 5m like the apex II you might find far too small and would really
require some nukin winds to get going with. If there are other riders in your area you can always ask them what they run in those winds and perhaps
you could even try out a few of their kites before you buy.
Just my 2 cents:cool2:Kamikuza - 23-8-2010 at 11:31 PM
There's a 6m FS Outlaw in the For Sale section ...John Holgate - 25-8-2010 at 02:20 AM

I've had the Access XC 6m and I have the Apex 2 5m - strangely enough, I find I can buggy in lighter winds with the 5m than I ever could with the 6m
XC. 20mph has me buggying with a bit of power with the 5m. 30mph and I'd be thinking of a 4m XT. But I am a wimp!lives2fly - 25-8-2010 at 06:37 AM
I use a 3.5m Bullet in winds from 25-35mph. You need to take care launching but otherwise it handles great with a snowboard or landboard.
The newer Kite - the Rage - has similar performance and is more forgiving if anything
As mentioned, your 7m Waroo should also be suited to wind above 25mph. I have used my 13m Venom all the way to 30mph + on the water...Houston AirHead - 25-8-2010 at 08:29 AM
I agree if it above 30mph and you dont plan on "kite soaring any ridges" I would stick around the 3 meter area, 3 and below. save money and yo A@*.
lol
i wish i could say i was looking foward to the snow. But south texas gets snow every 10 or so years. wishful thinking i supposegarydog - 25-8-2010 at 09:57 PM
OK thanks for the input
We do get lots of days 30+ out here. I fly on frozen lakes with snow on them. Hope to get up in the mountains around here some this winter.
I have a 3m profoil that I use but my arms can only take 15 min at a time in nuking winds.
I am looking at maybe the 6m outlaw.
And maybe a light wind engine. Larger flysurfer maybe.
