summer doldrums - how to find the wind?

lukeg - 24-8-2010 at 10:09 PM

I have the NOAA forecast page and windfinder for the iphone, but there have definitely been days where the wind was up, but neither seemed to show it.

And I know somebody has better intel than I do, because on those days when the wind is high, all the kite surfers show up in force.

Anybody want to share their favorite sites, apps, or other means of forecasting the wind?

I also use windfinder for the iphone. wunderground.com has a good wind report and some citys are updated by the minute.

I was lucky enough to spend three months there years ago, before I knew about kites...

I wish that was an option.

I'm in the same boat, I haven't flown in weeks, and the last time I flew it was so light I got bored trying to keep a 13m in the air....frustrating. At least the winter wind howls around here!
