Good Looking Flick

Looks really good! I'm not much of a ballet guy, but, i am a creepy/thriller movie guy and this looks like a winner... Looks like its on par with Requiem, and that was a crazy movie!

Requiem, the German exorcism flick?

Requiem for a Dream

http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi1200619801/

Great movie... but it felt like you left a family members funeral after you were done... epic movie tho

OK.... thought you were talking about Requiem for a Dream and first, but when you said creepy/thriller.... had me second guessing on the exorcism flick.

House of Fog and Sand.... good movie, but falls into train wreck movie that leaves you emotionally drained.... 1/3 of the way in you know there isn't going to be a happy ending for anyone.

Revenge with Kevin Costner and Anthony Quinn almost falls into that category. Not quite as desolate, but you know from the get-go that no one is going to get inspired to do any Hallmark cards.

Closet Land... an absolute tour-de-force... definitely not a Hallmark movie either, but a testament to acting skills when a movie has a cast of two and still blows you away. Would love to find this on DVD.

Gracias meng!

House of Sand and Fog

I can only keep so many movie titles in my head before I start transposing stuff.

I am still waaaaaay better than my girlfriend who would bring strangers over to me in the Best Buy when they were looking for a movie, but couldn't remember the title.

Footnote: Blockbuster used to have a physical limit on the number of movies they would rent to you in a 24 hour period. It's like they thought people slept. :o Bbbbastards.

The response was of course found in a movie title:

If your into balletic violence, highly underrated movie...

Sam

P.S. Yes, I am sucker for movies with overly sentimental puppy scenes. :embarrased:

I really liked Equilibrium, some nice fight scenes and interesting concepts

indigo_wolf - 25-9-2010 at 07:49 AM

That's pretty much the same reasons why I am keeping my eye out for Priest (but that won't be out until May 2011  ).

Paul Bettany and Maggie Q as warrior priests :o

equilibrium is good! It's been in my movie stash for some years now! a lot of people say a good chunk of the matrix was taken from this movie... which is odd because it came out in 02, and iirc matrix 1 was '99... good flick tho!

I haven't seen Equlibrium but will, looks kind of like Aeon Flux or Ultra Violet. Check out Children of Men, similar idea behind the it.

I wasn't a big fan of Requiem after the whole baby thing, that pissed me off.

Revolver, quite a mind bending movie, Guy Ritchie makes some really great movies.

highazakite - 27-9-2010 at 05:53 PM

i second lock stock and 2 smoking barrels, and if ya dig that try out snatch,, rock and roller, aaaand another vote for Revolver (ya have to watch it a couple of times and do watch the extra features)..
requiem was a lil tripped out but interesting.

acartier1981 - 28-9-2010 at 02:59 PM

Don't forget who did the new Sherlock Holmes.

baby thing??
---i bet you are thinking of trainspotting
with the smack users forgetting their baby, the resulting death, and of course the same baby crawling over the ceiling and attacking the "coming-off-heroin-the-hard-way-guy"

Trainspotting was good... but once again, not another family movie!

That Lou Reed song, "perfect day" (or something close to that) is prolly my favorite part of that movie
That and the line following his bb gun shot in the park!
Rofl material indeed!

acartier1981 - 28-9-2010 at 08:14 PM

Oh snap that's right, now I have to watch requiem again, lol.

Till then, new season of Dexter started
