Did the earth move for you?

My home town in NZ got nailed by a 7.4 mag earthquake ... wife is trying to contact our family there to make sure they're ok - which they are but lots of busted stuff. Father-in-law said that every single glass or cup they own is broken!

Funny, every NZer knows we lie on a fault line but we don't really get that many quakes ... I remember perhaps 4 rumbles and shakes that wouldn't upset your Weetbix.

Unlike here in Japan - many times more!

Whoa. That would get my heart goin'. Glad everyone is OK.

BTW, I visited both islands in NZ. AMAZING place.

Hurricanes over here.... earthquakes over there.... just not a good day to be a rabbit.

Glad everything is ok with you & yours.

News reports just now out of Christchurch are not one death and just a few injuries, but lots of damage.

Sorry, PC went tits up in sympathy then the wind was cracking so I went to the lack for an epic session :D

Biggest quake since 1931! That particular quake killed a bunch of people ... was the worst natural disaster in NZ. Since then though the power that be put the hard word down on building standards and I've heard it said that NZ's are the best in the world ... but that was probably bias :D Still, a very similar magnitude here in Japan in the 90's took a massive toll ... and building standards are third world here

Yeah, a couple (literally) of serious injuries, no deaths but a lot of property damage ... I think if it was business hours we wouldn't seen a higher human cost.
