Wildwood, 16 Sept 2010?

ragden - 14-9-2010 at 07:43 AM

So... I'm heading up to Mass this weekend for my best friends wedding, and was thinking about heading up a day early, and spending some time in Wildwood to do a little buggying. Anyone interested in joining me this Thursday?

Wind report looks decent, with a 50% chance of rain after 1600hrs. I am not 100% convinced this would be the best of ideas, but its looking like fun right now. Need to keep an eye on the weather to see if the forecast changes between now and then... but this does look pretty tempting...

I can't make it to Wildwood till the bash, but if you can break away from the wedding in Mass this weekend for a few hours you are welcome to fly with us. Our beach is 1/2 hour north of Boston and is worth checking out. Low tide is in the afternoon and I am sure we could set you up with some gear if you need it. Let me know if you think you can make it.

Looked up the directions from my buddies place to Nahant MA, only about 2hrs from his place. Not considering traffic. We might be able to make that. The wedding is on Saturday, and Sunday was going to be a travel/hang-out day. Depending on what is going on, we might stay an extra day to come visit with you guys... Depends on what is going on.

Can you drop me an e-mail with some details about your location? Thanks!

Yeah, it is about a 2 hour drive, close to a maximum in our state. The beach is about 1.5 miles long and runs north to south. It is a hard and wide at low tide. It is best in a ne-se wind, but is also good in sw-nw (no buildings to deal with) with nw being a bit lumpy. North or South don't work well. I don't have your email address, will a U2U do?

Here's a couple pics that might help Ragden. Pics are looking North. Atlantic on the east and the harbor on the west. The beach (and road) is the only thing joining the island of Nahant with Lynn Mass.. Winds are good in both directions due to very few obstructions as you can see. Hope to see you up here:thumbup::wee:

might be able to make it on Sunday. We'll see what is going on. Very tempting, though not much wind that day. We'll see what happens with the report... :)

Sounds like you had and epic day. I hope we can have conditions like that a least one day during the buggy bash. If you make it up on Sunday don't expect winds like you just had. We had an epic weekend two weeks ago, but it is not going to be like that this weekend.

Sorry I couldn't make it. Ended up driving home Sunday afternoon. Maybe next time. :)

Ragden

I would not be too sorry, you didn't miss much. The winds were light for a few hours and then shut off. Perhaps next time your around you can check out our beach. See you in Wildwood.
