Loctite?

Kamikuza - 21-9-2010 at 11:01 PM

Bolts are coming undone of the Flydoor by the end of a session ... worst is the handle - the straps are just not as tight as they were, but the handle is just finger tight.

Should I Loctite them? Or, when the time comes to replace the pads, will the T-nuts be ruined?

The pads are giving in or the nuts are pulling out or they're jsut virbrating loose? I dont' wee why you couldn't use some of the non-perm loctite... seems like a reasonable fix.

Vibrating loose is my guess ... the handle on my North board does the same thing.
I've already put blue stick-style Loctite on the handle of the Flydoor but they loosened again ... which was why I was thinking of the fluid-type ...

How long after you put the "blue" on did you hit the water? Possible it wasn't set fully?

24 hours or so?

use spring/lock washers under the bolt head....................better than lock tight

i put the blue on all mine , no problems , with the lock washer it required longer bolts

Locktite Blue is semi-permanent and can be un-done. Red is permanent and can only be undone with heat (that would wreck the board)

I got the red and blue in like lipstick tubes ... but only the red in fluid. This is not the first time those sticks have let me down ... but they're less messy than the fluid :D

Fluid wipes up easily with a rag while wet (hour or less). Red fluid is what I use to glue up the inserts in my sticks for Peter Lynn ARC's.
