Got my Speed 2 this weekend ... rolled it out today to have a look and admire it :D Pics the previous owner took to tempt me
My, what long lines you have, grandma fricken' longest lines I ever seen on a
kite!
Now ... do I need an FDS kit? Where's the best place to get one?
I do know that I need an Ozone CL for it ...indigo_wolf - 27-9-2010 at 04:20 AM

kami, congradulations to your speed2 light wind weapon !
looking forward seeing cool movies from you!BeamerBob - 27-9-2010 at 05:41 AM
If you think you've had trouble going upwind too much before............... just wait!AD72 - 27-9-2010 at 06:19 AM
Powerzone just quoted me an FDS. I will be replacing the Chickenloop QR as well. If you need to replace any of the bridal lines here is link to the
FS line plans. Line Plans
The zippers on the bag mine came with are all seized with dried up ocean salts. I have been soaking it for days and they are still nackered.
I can't wait to give it a go on the water! There has been no wind at all lately. Even the power of the Silberpfeil can't fix that.tridude - 27-9-2010 at 06:37 AM
congrats Kami...........you will be on the water and upwind of everyone unless theyre on a 19m SA 2/3 or on the beach in a buggy...........actually I
chased Hardrock down the beach in his buggy while I was on the water on the 19...............Powerzone will be your guy for the FDS but unless you fly
it over 15/16 kts the FLS will work fine..................fine looking sail youve got for sure.....................it will be nice to hear reports
from others because unless youve flown one of these its hard to imagine getting out in almost nothing and jumping to boot
Just got a U2U from Lunchbox and he said he was the only one out in 9 to 12 mph.........you two enjoy.......................tridude - 27-9-2010 at 06:43 AM
bump the best lightwind sail out there............................Kamikuza - 27-9-2010 at 03:37 PM
Oh I had no idea there was so much shiny gold material involved when I named this thread ... :shocked2: but DAYUM tri - I'd rather wear the shiny gold
suit than the spandex pants
Surprised myself on the weekend actually - hit the water thinking "no way" and got up and riding on the Xbow for a bit till it got real bad ... again,
I've got to give total props to the Flydoor!
We got 10-15 forecast for tonight ... could be the first ride on it Txshooter38 - 27-9-2010 at 04:37 PM
I can't wait to get a Flysurfer....lucky you have fun!Houston AirHead - 27-9-2010 at 06:41 PM
im super jealous, your gonna have so much fun with that kite.lunchbox - 27-9-2010 at 06:42 PM
Congratulations Kami...days when you don't think there will be enough wind are now going to be ridable. Like Tri said, magical day on Sunday wind
going from 9-12. No one out...had the whole ocean all to myself....I had never kitesurfed when the ocean was that smooth before....Enjoy!!!herc - 28-9-2010 at 12:06 AM
would like to see detailed videos of your first flight with the silverarrow !!! how it launches, fills, etc.Kamikuza - 28-9-2010 at 03:21 AM
Well bugger me
Took it out tonight ... session saved!
Weather reports says 10 knots, I reckoned about 12 knots when I launched but it slowly dropped as a front came through then delivered 15 knots or so,
maybe a touch more. For all but the last 5 minutes before the front arrived, I was riding and feeling guilty cos I was going upwind ok-ish while even
50kg rider's kites were dropping from the sky :D Lordy, what a tractor!
Hot launched it, which was fun :D seems quite badly behaved on the beach, really wants to overfly and you have to be hard on the brakes to keep it
from shooting past the window. Managed to collapse it a few times and had some entertainment :D had to be careful sending it across the zenith cos I'd
go flying off downwind!!!
Center section (50% of the kite?) filled real quick and the remaining tips stayed under-inflated then suddenly popped out into fully inflated ... the
Speed 1.5 would launch and gradually fill to about 80% then the tips would slowly fill out to their shape ... often, there'd be the final 5% of each
tip flapping around. I reckon over-all it filled quicker, but the tips made my heart skip a beat - thought it took a bit too long!
Bar pressure "Today, ve are goink to PUMP YOU UP little sissy man mit der puny
arms" and I believe it's on soft steering :shocked2:
Man what a tractor! Did I say that already?
Will get a helmet cam video eventually ... sorry, missed the first flight - only had an hour or so riding until sunset herc - 28-9-2010 at 04:05 AM
sounds great ! i so wish i also would own a flysurfer..
but maybe soon will have - i really need to digg that parakiting stuff on sand and water..
btw, for those who do not know: mr. flysurfer armin harich is developing a parakite:
look at that thing! I have enough trouble not dive-bombing a kite on 20m lines
:D
... how do you know if the Speed 2 is a 2.5 or not?
Does anyone know what the depower line is? Or its breaking strength?Kamikuza - 29-9-2010 at 03:17 AM
so how much better is your silver arrow than you 1.5?macboy - 29-9-2010 at 05:46 PM
Kami - compare the ripstop check pattern on the internal ribs vs the outer skin. I believe if they are the same it's 2.5, if they are different it's a
2.0.macboy - 29-9-2010 at 05:50 PM
Thought I'd elaborate. If I recall, the story was that to keep the original silverfoil so light they went with the high tech Silberpfeil for the skin
but it wasn't strong enough to be used for the internal structure of the kite so they used a stronger ripstop (hence the different check patterns).
The new SA material is much stronger BUT a little heavier than the Silberpfeil. To tip the scales back they went with the new material for both the
internals and the skin (hence the same check pattern). Rumor has it the new material is far more durable and serves the internal purpose just fine.Kamikuza - 29-9-2010 at 08:04 PM
Yeah I seem to remember something about that, now that you mention it ... although that might have been the Speed 3 DLX vs regular ...? Easy enough to
check!
stetson - the bottom end is much more noticeable - if anyone read my blog you'd
know that my fat ass is riding and the teeny-weeny locals are walking. That says a lot to me :D the Flydoor helps no end too!Kamikuza - 29-9-2010 at 08:06 PM
Next question - what about the depower line? Where do I get some to sort out the new CL? ... once we move house Kamikuza - 1-10-2010 at 07:17 AM
Yet another days riding I wouldn't have had if not for the Flydoor and the Speed 2.5 :o 8-10 knots on the forecast although I think my calculations
are off and it might actually be 7-9 :dunno:
Either way, I had a fun ride and did my biggest jump to date - ripped up the face of a "wave" and just kept going up ... I would've filled pants if I
was on the land :karate:stetson05 - 1-10-2010 at 09:52 AM
Damn now I am on the hunt. Is there room for a K.A. vice pres?stetson05 - 10-10-2010 at 01:25 PM
Got my SA 2.5 on Friday and took it out today. I was able to ATB a little in grass with about 7mph.
Mine is black, Deluxe fabric, though so what do they call that?
Need to get some pics up but the wind picked up and I am not ready to find the upper end yet.Kamikuza - 10-10-2010 at 06:14 PM
We are a bureaucracy - you can never have too many VPs
Nice not sure about the black fabric.
Pushing 20 knots gets uncomfy for me. 15 is very good bloody fun but the gusts give me the willies. I got picked up and lobbed but good, yesterday -
then the wind died to nothing ... still didn't have to walk though :Dstetson05 - 10-10-2010 at 08:25 PM
The Red is supposedly a red devil I just didn't know if there are any nicknames for the black ones. It is the same fabric as the S3 Deluxe. It was
gusty today up to about 14 I would guess and it kept wanting to power up, luff then power up again. I was flying around houses in dirty wind but at
about 7 it was fine. More bottom end than my 1.5 and turns quicker too. It attracted a lot of attention today. I don't regret the 1.5 but the 2.5
is better.Kamikuza - 11-10-2010 at 05:37 PM
Yeah, way more bottom end - especially with the Flydoor XL :D
