How are you planning to ride it - twin tip/mutant/strapless?

Been riding mine in mutant mode - had it in Cuba earlier this year riding most days with a 12m Charger and had an awesome time.
Last weekend riding the 140 wide with a 15 nicely juiced - big floaty jumps. Love the Makos.

it's rigged mutant. i need a change. i started riding tt's in 99. i tried a surf board a couple years back and did not like it or become proficient. my ss glide is my normal fla summer board and a 135 underground for the good wind. my goal with this board is to TOESIDE--i've tried it twice and immediately sunk both times. the mutant is going to force me to become proficient at toeside (i hope) :)

It takes a little bit to get the angle right when you come around on toeside to get the kite in the right position to keep the power on.
We get really choppy water and my biggest problem is bouncing along and then eating it face first once in a while.
The King also rides nicely reverse in mutant stance so it not as easy to force yourself into riding toeside - sometimes I'll just slide it it go TT the opposite direction - goes upwind really well going reverse even with the weight shifted forward because of the mutant stance.
Been riding a long time as well and I go to my directional board more often than my TTs - just love the feel - wish we had nicer ocean winds and waves though to play in. We get some nice waves but always bunched up and going through a lot of converging chop.
I have a new King sitting here waiting for a buddy to pick up to take to Hatteras for the next week.
anyway, have fun!

Wow, I'm jealous you guys have those Mako Kings! I saw them for the first time this last weekend at the AWSI Kite Expo in Hood and fell in love. I am not the biggest fan of the regular Mako line but the king won me over. I can see all the possibilities for surfing (without dragging around a surfboard), wakeskate kind of stuff with no or minimal fins, simple strapless riding, etc.

Some pals have made copies of the regular Makos up in Alaska bu the float is not the same--they tend to pearl in if your not paying attention. The Ocean Rodeo Guys called them "Fakos" I didn't realize there is an entire movement of people faking the mako!

Enjoy boys!

Watching the old vids, I always liked the idea of the mutants ... maybe when I break my other boards, I can get a Mako:lol:

used the mako saturday in 20ish winds and mo modded V1/13m. I'm going to love the board after i get proficient on it. I was able to ride toeside in jjust a couple of attempts. a couple of my toeside runs were 1/4 mile-ish...long enough that mmy back leg BURNED! i ytried it the next day with mmuch lighter wind and my syn15. i think for now the board will work better with a faster kite. my charger 12 came in :) but no wind forecast for the weekend :(
