landboarding in semi tall grass

kingsofa - 30-9-2010 at 10:00 PM

what are your thoughts? The grass is about a 1.5 feet tall but all blown over from the wind, I can ride my bike over it fine (it is pretty level) but what about a landboard?

yep, going out there sunday with the board. I already did some static flying, it is one of the best areas around here, no people and right by the coast!!

In my experience, boarding in tall grass like that is no fun and not worth it. As the board plows through the grass the grass gets funneled between your wheels under your trucks and creates a lot of friction so the kite starts getting punchy as the resistance on it and your speed constantly changes with the volume of grass crammed between your trucks and the ground. At least that was my experience. I tried it once and then never tried it again. Friend of mine in a buggy was doing OK though as he had far more clearance and less rolling resistance.

B-roc's right. Of course if its the only place you have to fly then I'm sure you'll make it work. Hard packed sand at low tide is kind of hard to beat:thumbup:

I expect monster tires wouldn't hurt

I have to wait another month until I can use the beaches but even then, low tide and wind don't come up super often.
